Back To The Cross
Part 6 | The Fellowship of CHRIST's Suffering—Suffering for LOVE
-----------------------------------------------------------
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”- John 13:34-35 [NKJV]
JESUS gave a commandment; that we should LOVE. And this is the fruit of the SPIRIT. Thus when we receive the HOLY SPIRIT, HE gives/plants into our lives, LOVE.
What is Love? “Love is large and incredibly patient. Love is gentle and consistently kind to all. It refuses to be jealous when blessing comes to someone else. Love does not brag about one’s achievements nor inflate its own importance. Love does not traffic in shame and disrespect, nor selfishly seek its own honor. Love is not easily irritated or quick to take offense. Love joyfully celebrates honesty and finds no delight in what is wrong. Love is a safe place of shelter, for it never stops believing the best for others. Love never takes failure as defeat, for it never gives up. Love never stops loving. It extends beyond the gift of prophecy, which eventually fades away. It is more enduring than tongues, which will one day fall silent. Love remains long after words of knowledge are forgotten. Until then, there are three things that remain: faith, hope, and love—yet love surpasses them all. So above all else, let love be the beautiful prize for which you run” (1 Corinthians 13:4-8 «TPT»).
For more than twice, Paul talked of being in chains for the sake of the Gospel (Ephesians 6:20, Colossians 4:3). Had it not been love, Paul wouldn't have sacrificed his life for the sake of the Gospel. But he didn't care what people would do to him; he preached the Gospel.
There were times that the disciples were caught and beaten or imprisoned, and immediately they were released, they would go back to preaching the Gospel. They, out of their all—because of Love, would not forsake/keep quiet about preaching the Gospel. Because they loved GOD, they obeyed and did HIS will (John 14:15).
Remember Paul says, “That I may know HIM and the power of HIS resurrection, and the fellowship of HIS sufferings, being conformed to HIS death.” - Philippians 3:10. But what then is the fellowship of the sufferings of CHRIST?
