AND GOD SAID
ORDINARY MAN, EXTRAORDINARY PRAYER.


James 5:17-18
Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.

James tells us that Elijah “had a nature like ours.” Elijah was a man just like you and me. Same flesh, same struggles, same fears. Yet when he prayed earnestly, heaven responded. The rains stopped for 3 and a half years and only started again at his word.

God isn’t looking for perfect people. He’s looking for praying people. Your humanity doesn’t disqualify you. It’s the very reason God can use you. Like Elijah, you can call down fire, shift seasons, and bear fruit, not because you’re special, but because you pray.

Elijah’s story reminds us that God still answers prayers today through ordinary people like us, with ordinary lives.

Don’t dismiss your prayers. God honours sincere, believing hearts. Keep praying, especially when things seem dry, because restoration follows your obedience!

I pray that the Lord grants us a faith like Elijah’s, that through it, we will pray and command things into existence. May God use our ordinary lives for His extraordinary purpose in Jesus’s name. Amen!
