Galatians 3:13
“Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us…”
The word redeemed is powerful.
It means Christ paid the price to purchase our freedom.
Jesus did not die merely to make your life slightly better.
He died to break the authority of everything that stood against God's purpose for your life.
The cross was God's declaration:
“This ends here.”
There are things that may have travelled through your family for decades that must stop at your generation.
Somebody has to say:
“It may have happened before me, but it will not continue through me.”

WHAT ARE GENERATIONAL PATTERNS?
A generational pattern is a repeated behavior, condition, mindset, or cycle that appears across generations within a family.

Some are learned behaviors.
Children watch what parents do.
A child grows up watching anger and learns anger.
A child grows up watching dishonesty and normalizes dishonesty.
A child grows up seeing unhealthy relationships and may reproduce them.

Some patterns are environmental.
You grow up hearing: “Nobody in this family goes to university.”
“We have always been poor.”
“Men in this family don't stay married.”
“Our family has always struggled.”

Eventually, these statements become mental strongholds.
And some patterns are connected to sin and spiritual bo***ge.
The Bible shows that the consequences of sin can affect generations.

Exodus 20:5 speaks of the consequences of iniquity reaching generations.
But we must understand something important:
The Bible does not teach that a believer is helplessly condemned to repeat the sins of his ancestors.
Why? Because Christ has redeemed us.

DOMINION OVER GENERATIONAL PATTERNS
YOU ARE NOT YOUR FAMILY HISTORY
There are things we inherit from our families that we are grateful for.
We inherit names.
We inherit values.
We inherit wisdom.
We inherit opportunities.
But sometimes, we also encounter patterns that have followed a family for generations.
A pattern of broken marriages.
A pattern of addiction.
A pattern of poverty and financial struggle.
A pattern of anger and violence.
A pattern of premature death.
A pattern of children abandoning their parents.
A pattern of failure at the edge of breakthrough.
A pattern where nobody seems to rise beyond a certain level.
And after seeing it happen repeatedly, somebody begins to say:
“This is how our family is.”
But hear me:
A family pattern may explain where you came from, but it does not have the authority to determine where you are going.
Your bloodline may have a history, but your redemption gives you a new identity.
You may have come from a broken family, but brokenness does not have to continue through you.
You may have come from a family where nobody succeeded, but you can become the first evidence that God is doing a new thing.
