ADRA Ghana Donates Relief Items to Flood Victims in Partnership with NADMO
Accra, Ghana ,In response to the devastating floods that struck seven regions of Ghana on June 28–29, 2026, the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) Ghana has presented essential relief items to the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) for distribution to affected communities.
The official handover ceremony took place on July 21, 2026, at the NADMO National Office in Accra, where ADRA Ghana Country Director Dr. Isaac Kankam-Boadu presented the donation on behalf of ADRA and the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
The catastrophic flooding affected 77 Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies across the Greater Accra, Central, Volta, Western, Western North, Eastern, and Ashanti regions. According to NADMO, the disaster displaced 89,736 people from 17,948 households and tragically claimed 34 lives, with submerged homes, destroyed farms, and disrupted livelihoods.
"This is not charity out of pity. This is ministry out of justice, compassion, and love," Dr. Kankam-Boadu stated during the ceremony. "We gather here today not just to hand over items, but to stand with the victims of the flood and to tell them that they are not forgotten. They are not alone. God sees them and also cares."
The relief items presented include:
212 mattresses
424 blankets
110 boxes of cake soap
212 buckets of powdered soap
212 gallons of liquid soap
85 packs of toilet rolls
35 packs of tissue paper towels
5 boxes of toothpaste
5 boxes of toothbrushes
20 boxes of mosquito sprays
The donation was made possible through the support of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Ghana, ADRA International, ADRA Africa Regional Office based in Nairobi, Kenya, and individual donors.
Speaking at the event, NADMO Director General Major (Rtd) Dr. Joseph Bikanyi Kuyon received the items alongside government representatives, Adventist Church leaders, ADRA response committee members, and staff from both organizations.
Dr. Kankam-Boadu acknowledged the limitations of the donation while emphasizing its symbolic significance: "We know these items cannot replace everything you have lost. But we pray they will bring comfort, dignity, and hope in this difficult season."
Quoting Scripture, he reminded attendees of Matthew 25:35— "For I was naked and you clothed me, hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in" —and Galatians 6:2, urging the church to continue "Carrying One Another's Burdens."
ADRA Ghana has committed to ongoing prayer and partnership with other organizations to support recovery and rebuilding efforts for affected communities. Dr. Kankam-Boadu also issued an appeal to other institutions and individuals to come to the aid of flood victims.
"As we hand over these items, may they be a sign that God has not abandoned you. May they be a bridge back to stability, health, and hope," he concluded. "May the Lord bless you, keep you, and restore everything the flood has taken."
