Bro. Dr (hc) Dan Owusu Asiamah writes...
Exactly a week from today, 25th of December 2020, as usual, the denominational world will be making a lot of noise about Christmas celebrations which to them signifies the commemoration of the birth of Christ Jesus, Our Lord.
They have almost succeeded in deceiving the entire world to believe in Christmas celebration to the extent that some Preachers and church leaders within the churches of Christ have also been carried away. Yes, some Preachers think it is not important to speak against it. Others would rather encourage it in a subtle manner and others choose to be indifferent.
All of us must remember at all times that: 1.Christmas celebration forms no part of the Apostles' doctrine- Acts 2:42.
2. It is based on traditions of men - Mark 7:7, 9.
Just Google "Christmas" on your phone and read about its origin.
3. Christmas celebration is in a direct opposition to what Christ Jesus wanted us to remember Him with - Luke 22:19, 1Corinthians 11:23-25.
4. Unlike Judaism christianity does not fancy the celebration of festivities- Galatians 4: 8-11.
It is therefore WRONG for any Christian to either participate or promote Christmas as a Christian festivity. It is not! If it is when did it begin? " If any man speaks let him speak as the oracles of God"- 1Peter 4:11. Can anybody boldly, scripturally or historically tell the world that the Apostles( Peter, John, James, Paul etc) did celebrate Christmas?????
Of course, those who advocate for Christmas celebration as a Christian festivity will first of all have to disregard and undermine the importance and authority of the Holy Bible. They result to human reasoning and wisdom instead of the Word of God....Hebrews 4:12.
Worldly wisdom is foolishness before God...1Corinthians 1: 18. Is anybody saying that when the Lord said " DO THIS IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME" He meant CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION???? Please, read the passages again: LUKE 22:19, 1 Corinthians 11:23-25.
Last but not the least, WHO told us that Jesus Christ was born on December 25??? Where is the historical account? Now, see John 8:44.
Did you know that the Bible places more importance on the day of ones death over a birthday? Ecclesiastes 7:1, Job 3: 1-5. Are we not saved by the death of Christ? Whatever arguments and questions you may have in mind in His wisdom He said " DO THIS IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME". Do WHAT? Celebrate Christmas??? No!
The pre existent nature of Christ rather makes the difference. "In the beginning was the WORD! Christ existed before the virgin birth. Christ Jesus is AGELESS. Instead of selling the ageless Christ to this Christless age people claiming to be Christian's are rather obsessed with a festivity which is now characterized by gross PERMISSIVENESS, worldliness and bloodshed all because it is not authorized by "this saith the Lord". Apart from a maximum of about three hours at church what is left in Christmas celebration are all worldly; drunkenness, gluttony, sexual sins, competitive fashion, price hikes etc. Tell me I am fabricating this.
The Bible does not permit us to celebrate Christmas in "honor" of Christ. Rather, Christian's are to observe the Holy Communion in remembrance of Christ. Let that be sufficient to us. After all, He asks; " BUT WHY DO YOU CALL ME LORD, LORD AND DO NOT WANT TO DO WHAT I SAY"? LUKE 6:46. Is it not interesting that the word "Christmas" is never found in the Bible and that birthday celebrations in scripture are all tainted with bloodshed?? See Genesis 40: 20-22 and Matthew 14: 6-12.
Well, before you pounce on me please, read the post again. Read all the Bible passages again and answer the few questions I have raised honestly. As for those Pastors, it is yet another "Cocoa season" for them so they will try all they can to convince you to ignore this post. After all, its business AS USUAL.
Take good care of yourselves because Christmas is clear Christlessness!
I wish you all the Lord's blessings and spiritual illumination of His Word.
To His Glory.
