After months of seeking the Lord’s face, Gracefields Chapel under the leadership of Rev. Simon Ampofo held its first service on the 22nd of August 2010 at Sports Hotel Conference Room, Kumasi. As the Lord would have it, the church started with a great momentum and had seasoned men and women of the gospel attending its first service. In all, a little over 200 people were present at the birthing of
this ministry that day; an initial service that had no advertising hype. Since then the manifold grace of God has been manifest on this ministry. Prior to founding Gracefields Chapel, Rev Ampofo had for more than twenty years been involved with another Christian ministry – where he actually started the Kumasi branch of their church – Harvest Chapel and pastored this church for more than thirteen years. Under his ministry, several souls locally and internationally, were transformed and impacted with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and several of such people whose lives have been influenced under his ministry and now actively involved in Christian ministry across the world. Several projects financed solely from his local branch and members in the diaspora were initiated and carried out under the visionary leadership of Rev. Ampofo. Notably among these projects was a 2000 – seater church complex he was spearheading; work on which was far advanced. As the Lord would have it however, Rev. Ampofo had to sacrifice this Isaac on the altar of obedience and begin a new work – Gracefields Chapel; and the faithful Lord has honored this step of faith and obedience in many ways – evident in the manifold grace of God upon Gracefields Chapel.
