*BITTERNESS*

_Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamour, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice._ *Ephesians 4:31*

Two shopkeepers were bitter rivals. Their stores were directly across the street from each other, and they would spend each day keeping track of each other's business. If one got a customer, he would smile in triumph at his rival. One night an angel appeared to one of the shopkeepers in a dream and said, "I will give you anything you ask, but whatever you receive, your competitor will receive twice as much. Would you be rich? You can be very rich, but he will be twice as wealthy. Do you wish to live a long and healthy life? You can, but his life will be longer and healthier. What is your desire?" The man frowned, thought for a moment, and then said, "Here is my request; 'Strike me blind in one eye!'"
Sad but true. There are people who are just like that - rather than see their rival do well, they would wish evil for themselves! What a defeatist attitude. What a waste of time and opportunity.
The stumbling blocks for many of us are not the difficulties and challenges along life's path but the bitterness of heart we nurse within us. It poisons our attitudes and kills our vision. It blinds us to all the many beautiful things that the Lord has in store for us. Instead of focusing on what God wants to do for us, we allow rivalry and bitterness to diminish the potential of our lives.
If that is your attitude, come before God and allow His Holy Spirit to cleanse your heart and mind from rivalry and bitterness.

_*Prayer:* Cleanse my heart, O Lord from the spirit of rivalry and bitterness._

*GUARD YOUR THOUGHTS*

_Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ._ *2 Corinthians 10:5*

A wise man once said, "Thoughts are the seedlings of realities." What you predominantly think about becomes your reality. Our thoughts control our lives and determine our destiny. This is the reason why our minds are the battle ground of our fight with the force of darkness.
Our text tells us to cast down imaginations or human reasoning out of our mind. Now that's very important. Every thought that originates from Satan must be immediately cast out of your mind. The command "casting down" points to the fact that you have the ability to decide what thoughts stay in your mind. God has given you hundred percent control over your mind.
The question is how do I discern which thoughts originate from the forces of darkness? Philippians 4:8. It says, "finally whatsoever things are true, and honest, and pure, and just, and lovely, and of a good report - think on these things." In other words, is the thought consistent with the word of God? Is it honest? Is it pure? Is it just? Is it lovely? Is it of a good report? If it is not, then cast it out immediately.
We must maintain a high level of awareness and keep a perpetual watch over our minds. Because that is where we either win or lose the battles of life.

_*Prayer:*Father, help me develop the discipline of keeping watch over my mind._

*Scriptural Reading:* 2 Corinthians 10:1-6

*LOVE YOUR ENEMY*

_'You have heard that it was said, "Love your neighbour and hate your enemy." But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven.'_ *Matthew 5:43-45*

If you are a leader you will have conflict sooner or later. How you manage conflict will determine how good of a leader you will be. Jesus handled conflict in many different ways. Sometimes He confronted the issue head-on, other times He ignored the accusation and went on His way. Sometimes He chose to wash the feet of those who attacked Him.
Dr. Martin Luther King, father of the United States civil rights movement on Christmas Day, 1957, delivered a sermon at the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama. It was based on today's passage and the sermon title was, 'Loving Your Enemy.' Through the course of his sermon, Dr. King suggested three ways by which we can do just that.
First, we must develop and maintain the capacity to forgive. Such forgiveness doesn't mean that we ignore the wrong committed against us. Rather it means that we will no longer allow the wrong to be a barrier to the relationship. Forgiveness, according to King, 'is a catalyst creating the atmosphere necessary for a fresh start and a new beginning.'
Second, we must recognize that the wrong we've suffered doesn't entirely represent the other person's identity. We need to acknowledge that our opponent, like each one of us, possess both bad and good qualities. We must choose to find the good and focus on it.
Third, we must not seek to defeat or humiliate our opponent, but to win his or her friendship and understanding. Such an attitude flows not from ourselves, but from God as His unconditional love works through us.
As followers of Christ who seek to lead as He led, we must remember that the more freely we forgive, the more clearly we reveal the nature of our Heavenly Father. Today, decide to forgive those who have been the source of pain in your life.

_*Prayer:* Lord, forgive and bless all those who have wronged me one way or the other, even as I forgiven them._

New Living Translation Romans 6:9
We are sure of this because Christ was raised from the dead, and he will never die again. Death no longer has any power over him.

Title: *COVENANT KEEPING GOD*

Deuteronomy 7:9 NLT
Understand, therefore, that the LORD your God is indeed God. He is the faithful God who keeps His covenant for a thousand generations and lavishes His unfailing love on those who love Him and obey His commands.

An everlasting truth we must know and understand is that God is faithful and He keeps to His word. Our unbelief or unfaithfulness doesn't change who He is because He cannot deny His true nature. He is dependable, reliable and well able to accomplish what concerns you today. Do you have a covenant with God, play your part because He will be faithful to the end.

GOD BLESS YOU!

Though the Lord is on high, He looks upon the lowly but the proud He knows from afar. Psalm 138:6

An old man saw a scorpion
drowning and decided to pull it
out from the water. He calmly puts
his hand to reach the creature,
when he did, the scorpion stung
him... With the effect of the pain, the old
man let go the creature and it fell
back into the water. The old man
realising that the scorpion was
drowning again, got back and
tried to rescue it but then again it stung him. He let go it again.....
A young boy standing by
approached the old man and said;
"Excuse me sir, you are going to
hurt
yourself trying to save the evil, vicious creature, why do you
insist?
Don't you realise that each time
you try
to help the scorpion it stings you?
The Man replied; "The nature of the
scorpion is to sting and mine is to
help". It will not change in
helping the scorpion.
So the man thought for a while
and used a leaf from a nearby tree and pulled the scorpion out
from
the water and saved it's life...
Then turning to the young boy, he
said...
"Do not change your nature. If someone hurts you, just take
precautions;
Some pursue happiness while
others create it...
Let the Holy Spirit be your guide
in whatever you do...
When life presents you with a
hundred reasons to cry, show it
that you have a thousand and
more
reasons to smile.... More importantly, always be the
reason for that precious
SMILE!..(steward Jane)

Too often when things don't happen at the time we expect, we get discouraged and down in spirit. The Bible says, " Be patient as you wait". Note, it doesn't say if you wait, it says as you wait and it goes on to say "see how the farmer waits expectantly". That's the key: We have to wait with expectancy.
To wait with expectancy means to be hopeful and positive. And remember waiting shouldn't be a passive thing. Waiting the correct way means you are on the lookout. Are u ready to wait for God's appointed time? If yes, then stay positive and speak faith filled words.
May the good Lord bless you and your household. Amen.

For a man's ways are in full view of the Lord and He examines all his paths. Proverbs 5:21

31/05/2016

But God's love is big enough to touch any life, to make light out of darkness. Jesus came that we might have life, so that no more would we have to die in depression, anger or pain. He loved people back to life. He would go anywhere, talk to anyone. And wherever He went, He would stop for the one--the forgotten one, the one who was rejected, outcast, sick, even stone dead. Even a thief who was dying for his crimes on the cross next to Him. In the kingdom of God's love there is no sinner who cannot come home.

But why are you afraid of Everyone & Everything? Is our God no longer mighty to save? "What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us who can be against us" (Rom 8: 31)

Your safety is guaranteed in Christ. He is the Solid Rock upon which we build. Don't let fear move you places contrary to God's will for your life.
