Here's what *Pope Francis* actually said;
*“Gay People have the right to be part of the family. They’re children of God and have a right to a family”*
*“You can’t kick anyone out of the family, or make life impossible for that reason”*
*“What we have to do is a law of civil life. They have a right to be covered legally”*
• In the language he was speaking, Spanish, the words were *_“convivencia civil_*” (civil co-existence)
This isn’t about Civil Unions or civil marriage, but about protecting gay people from abuse and social rejection in their own family circles.
• This is not stating they have the right to start a family with children, just that they have a right to belongingness.
• You can’t just throw someone out of your family because they are gay, or make their life miserable because they are gay.
His focus is not on gay people starting families in gay marriage, but on people who have rejected or disowned loved ones for being gay.

Pope Francis is defending something the Church has always defended the *Dignity of the People* - something Jesus did when he conversed with sinners and the lame of all kinds.
He is calling for civil laws to protect homosexuals from mistreatment in their own family environment, who are often rejected by their own parents, brothers, sisters, and family members.
*_Pope Francis was misunderstood, misquoted, mistranslated and misinterpreted_*.
