*Taking New Territories Pt 65*
John 7:3-4 NLT
and Jesus' brothers said to him, "Leave here and go to Judea, where your followers can see your miracles! You can't become famous if you hide like this! If you can do such wonderful things, show yourself to the world!"
This could have been one of the destiny defeating moments in any normal person's life if we weigh the statement in the balances. I will break it down quickly for you;
- "Leave here and go to Judea" was a daring and suicidal provocation meant to set up Jesus for a premature death if He had not applied wisdom. His own brothers knew he had just escaped a murder attempt on his life in Judea. Yet they incited him to openly go there if He was who He claimed to be.
- "Where YOUR followers can see your miracles." They declared their stand to Jesus that day that we are not part of your followers. Don't number us among your congregation. The next thing they insinuated was that all the miracles Jesus did as far as they are concerned means nothing. In other words, there is nothing you will do called a miracle that will make us believe in you, so go do them to those who are your followers. They chose not to be impressed with any manifestation of Jesus' anointing.
- "You can't become famous if you hide like this!" They called Jesus being around their town as hiding. And they boldly said He could not be famous in He stuck around them. That means there was no way they were going to propagate the things done by Him. We have no idea very great people who were never known, not because God didn't place great potentials in them or do great things with them, BUT THEIR BROTHERS refused to announce it. This was a sincere plea from mocking brothers; if you stay here, you can never be famous because we will not share any of your miracles with people.
- If you can do such wonderful things, show yourself to the world!" Thankfully, Jesus took this advice. He moved out of the home, and the world heard him.
Don't be robbed with evil sentiments. Jesus didn't say they are my brothers so I will still be loyal and stick around. He stepped out and found a new family. One time, these same family members showed up in his service, and he pointed to His congregation and answered that His mother and siblings are the ones doing God’s will with Him. Don't stay around the unbelievers of your calling. They will quench the light of your destiny.
It is not a sin to break any friendship that is not in support of what God sent you on earth to do. Jesus walked away from His blood brothers and joined Himself to His destiny brothers. After His resurrection, His blood brothers came to believe in Him. James became a renowned Apostle of the early church. People may love to belittle you, dont fight back. Walk away! Give your best to where you are received. Make impact until the unbelievers of your life repent.
