THREE THINGS THAT CAN TAKE THE GAZE OF A MINISTER FROM CHRIST
In the account of the scriptures, there is a popular story of Peter walking on the sea with our Lord Jesus Christ. The Bible made us to understand that he began to drown the moment he took his gaze from Jesus to look at the tempest of the sea.
The HolySpirit used this particular story to broaden my understanding that there are three major circumstances that can make even a minister of God in this generation take his gaze from Jesus and begin to drown just like Peter.
They are;
1) CHALLENGES IN THE MINISTRY
Doing ministry without financial capacity can expose us to many challenges that is capable of weighing us down to the extent of running from pillar to post looking for possible ways to end our poverty-living life. Other challenges could be health issues, fruitlessness, inability to grow our church into a big one, having members that looks up to pastor instead of pastor receiving from them, land leasing, inability to keep up with spiritual activities that edifies us (prayer, fasting, studying the Bible) etc. When we allow these challenges weigh us down, we will loose concentration and begin to drown, we must watch it!
2) COMFORTS AND BLESSINGS IN THE MINISTRY
When God begins to reward His minister after years of wilderness experience or God helps a minister to do ministry with ease, such a fellow can begin to feel pompous, which is the major danger of the comfort zone. They shift their focus from their secret place to the ministerial works. They will hold series of programs in the name of the Lord when they know within themselves that they have drawn back from God. Some even believe that since they have undergone series of fasting and series of prayers during the days of their wilderness experiences, they don't need it anymore ,this is their time to enjoy and relax. Before they know it,they have drowned in the sense of compromising the standard of their calling, joining secret cults thinking
