RAMSEYER CONGREGATION SUPPORTS MANHYIA LOCAL PRISONS WITH DONATION AHEAD OF 130TH ANNIVERSARY CLIMAX
The PCG, Ramseyer Memorial Congregation, Adum-Kumasi of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), has donated assorted items to the Manhyia Local Prisons as part of activities marking its 130th Anniversary celebration.
The presentation, which took place on Saturday, May 23, 2026, formed part of the congregation’s social outreach initiatives aimed at supporting vulnerable groups within society. Items donated included toothpaste, toiletries, bags of gari, beans, and other essential supplies for the upkeep of inmates.
Presenting the items on behalf of the Church, the Kumasi District Minister and Minister-in-Charge of the Ramseyer Congregation, Rev. Dr. Anokye Nkansah, stated that the gesture reflected the Church’s commitment to Christian compassion, social responsibility, and service to humanity. He explained that the donation to the prison facility was one of several activities outlined to commemorate the congregation’s 130 years of existence and witness in Kumasi.
Rev. Dr. Nkansah further disclosed that the climax of the anniversary celebration would be held on Sunday, July 26, 2026, with a grand thanksgiving service and durbar. The occasion will also feature the dedication of the congregation’s ultramodern church auditorium.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Ghana Prisons Service, DSP Samuel Asare Asante expressed appreciation to the Church for the continued support extended to the prison service over the years.
He particularly commended the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, especially the Asante Presbytery, for its sustained commitment to prison ministry and inmate welfare, noting that such interventions contribute significantly to the rehabilitation and reintegration of inmates into society.
A member of the Anniversary Planning Committee, Mr. Isaac Ofori, indicated that the congregation intends to extend similar outreach programmes to orphanages and other correctional facilities as part of the anniversary activities.
According to him, the Church considers prison ministry an essential aspect of its mission and remains committed to impacting lives through practical acts of service and support.
The Ramseyer Congregation, one of the historic congregations of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, is expected to climax its 130th Anniversary celebration in July 2026 with a series of commemorative activities.
