*Go Your Way!*

Daniel 12:13
“As for you, go your way till the end. You will rest, and then at the end of the days you will rise to receive your allotted inheritance.”

Daniel received a revelation from the Lord concerning the last days. This is the final comment of the angel to him;

There are some lessons we can learn from this comment. Let’s look at it more closely.

1. We all have a “way”
God has a prescribed plan or way for each and every Christian. This was determined from eternity. We have different assignments that are related to our gifts and grace.

Sometimes, instead of following God’s plan for us, our lives are tempted to follow another plan that’s convenient, beneficial or acceptable. We must learn to follow our unique calling.

2. We must be faithful to the “end”
Following God’s plan for your life is not an event but a lifetime commitment. It takes faithfulness to do that. It’s not easy to be faithful because you will have to sacrifice many things to be able to achieve that.

3. There is a reward for those who follow the Lord
“You will receive your allotted inheritance,” not only on earth but also in heaven. It’s a great thing to serve the Lord. Life will one day come to an end and what will matter is your service to God.

Make a commitment to serve the Lord, and you will not lose your reward.

Life Is Like An Exam; Get It Right!

Luke 15:12, 14

"And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living. And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want."

Life is like an exam. When you are writing a paper, you may have about a hundred multiple-choice questions to answer. You may have about five choices to make concerning one question. Now, out of the alternatives, there are wrong answers and correct answers.

Your job will be to decide and pick the right answer. As you keep answering from question one through to one hundred, you would have decided on every single question. In the end, every answer is going to be put together and a mark will be given. Someone may score 80/100; another 40/100; and so on. The mark you get will be dependent on the decisions you made whilst answering every individual question.

At the end of the exam, some people may fail; others may pass. Those who failed did not fail on just one question; they made the wrong decision concerning many questions. They may not be able to continue to either junior high school or senior high school; and if it is at tertiary level, they may have to be referred or sacked.

I have realized that one of the most important skills to develop in life is your ability to take good decisions.

For example, life will bring up series of questions: How are you going to feed yourself? How are you going to provide accommodation for yourself? Who are you going to marry? It is a multiple-choice question, because you may have Dede, Irene, and Apalagoma. Out of the alternatives, there is only one answer, and you must get it right.

God’s Word is the answer sheet to many of life’s questions. Make sure you read it so you can provide the right answers!

The Fear Of God Is Not In This Place!

One thing we need in every place is the fear of God. It needs to be present in our hearts, homes, marriage, offices, and country. It's a good quality which must pervade who we are and everything we do. What makes it so important?

Fear is a powerful emotion that influences our decisions and actions, but it can be used negatively or positively. For example, recently I was standing on the balcony of a very tall building. Suddenly, very strong winds started blowing. I made a good decision to leave because I found it dangerous. The fear of falling influenced me to make the right decision.

Genesis 20:11
“And Abraham said, because I thought, Surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will slay me for my wife's sake.”

When Abraham arrived in Canaan, he realized the fear of God was not present in that country. He decided to leave because men who lived there were not governed by the fear of God and could make very wicked decisions including murder.

It is dangerous to be in a relationship without the fear of God. People who don't fear God can be mean and wicked. When you work for people who don't fear God, they can easily manipulate and exploit you. When you don't have the fear of God in your heart, you can make wrong decisions.

Let the fear of God pervade your life and watch yourself blossom.

Should I Rely On Medicine Or Prayer When I Am Sick?

There are Christians who believe that when you fall ill, you do not need to take medicine because prayer can heal you. There are also others who believe you must take medicine, so who is right?

In answering this question, I want us to examine how God helped King Hezekiah when he fell ill. God instructed Isaiah to boil some figs and lay it on Hezekiah's boil.

2 Kings 20:7
“And Isaiah said, Take a lump of figs. And they took and laid it on the boil, and he recovered.”

What are the principles we can glean from this scripture?

1. We must be led by the Spirit of God. Hezekiah was instructed by God; he did not use any particular methodology, he was just led by the Spirit of God.

2. Isaiah used a combination of the natural and spiritual things to heal Hezekiah. It seems as led by the Spirit or allowed by your faith you can combine medicine with prayer. The fig which was a natural plant and faith were used.

3. Supernatural Healing can be gradual. The scripture says he recovered. By implication I can say this was a gradual healing.

Do you need healing? Rely on the Spirit to show you what to do.

Chasing Jesus!

What are you chasing in life; money, pleasure, fame or power? We are supposed to be chasing or following after Jesus but I will be the first to admit that it is not an easy task. It is however, very rewarding because from him and through him and to him are all things.

Luke 9:23
And he said to them all, “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.”
Three things are required of people who want to chase Jesus.

First of all, you must deny yourself.
To deny means to restrain yourself from your gratifications and desires. There are many things which are pleasurable but yet sinful. For example, s*x can be pleasurable outside marriage but it's sinful and you must deny yourself when you are not married.

The second requirement is a progression from self-denial. You must take up your cross. The cross was a symbol of suffering. Self-denial entails suffering which can be mental, physical, emotional, or spiritual. For example, forgiveness can be a traumatic experience especially when you have to forgive and relate to someone you love who has wounded you deeply.

The last requirement is diligence. We have to deny ourselves every single day till we die. It's easy to sacrifice something occasionally, but to do it daily, My, that's difficult!

Following Jesus is not easy but it's worth it so keep on doing it!
