BRIEF HISTORY
The Harris Church also known as Christ Church was established in Ivory Coast by Prophet William Wade Harris of Cape Palmas, Liberia, who cherished the belief of Biblical History that the many hardships, obstacles, and disasters that entangle mankind have been the result of man's involvement in sin and diabolical actions. He believed that if mankind would abstain from sin and lead a
life dedicated to the Glory of the Almighty God, then the restoration of the evalasting peace and salvation would be a reality. Prophet Harris toured the then Gold Coast in 1914, preached the word of God, healed the sick, and performed several other miracles. Thomas, area secretary of the Methodist Society for West Africa, in his letter of 19th May 1967, had the following to say of Prophet William Wade Harris. "I am sure you that we of the Methodist Church have a special affection for Prophet Harris and have tried to carry out his wishes and the will of God, whom he served in caring for the flock he gathered".
