They all called it survival,
a way to feed the hungry mouths
that waited in rooms of dust and despair,
but what they dug was a death trap,
and what they fed was ruin of their own lives.
The rivers today no longer sing;
they are choked on the greed of men,
their waters once clean and clear like morning prayers
now murky with the sins of gold and greed.
Children continue to scoop poison for thirst,
and their innocence dissolving
in the same water that once blessed their birth.
The forest now stands naked,
its green vegetation stripped away like a shameful secret.
Birds have also forgotten their songs,
and the soil no longer breathes;
what was once a cradle of life
is now a graveyard of dreams.
Mountains bleed into valleys,
their hearts torn open by restless machines.
Hmmmmn!๐๐ญ
Fishes float like ghosts
on the surface of our dying rivers,
and the wind carries a sorrowful dirge,
the cry of mother earth,
the lament of the unseen tomorrow.
GALAMSAY!
a name sounding with regrets,
where gold glitters brighter than conscience,
and hope sinks deeper than any mine.
In the quest for treasures of today,
we have buried our nationโs soul.
God Have Mercy on us all ๐๐ผ๐๐ป
