Koforidua: Shekinah Worship center climaxes health week with free screening in Church
Shekinah Worship Center of The Church of Pentecost, Koforidua Area has climaxed Health week observation with health screening exercise on Sunday.
The weeklong program dedicated to improve health awareness and good health among members of the church and their families was under the theme: “Repositioning the Family Health Life of the Local church for Maximum impact “(3 John 2).
The program was held in collaboration with Adweso Clinic.
Health experts took turn during the week to educate members on prevention of both communicable and non-communicable diseases including diabetes and hypertension which have become leading causes of deaths globally.
Participants were provided services such as BP and blood sugar level checks, prostrate, eye care, ENT services, Laboratory and Scan services among others.
Mrs. Cynthia Out Martey, Neonatal Specialist at ERHK, Albert Kwabena Agyeman Bediako- Chief Administrator at Adweso Clinic observed that bad lifestyle such as lack of regular exercise ,bad eating habits, and stress continue to cause hipertension and diabetes among Ghanaians.
According to them, some of the people attended to had very high blood pressure therefore refered for emergency care at Adweso clinic.
Some of the beneficiaries commended leadership of the Church for the medical intervention.
Overseer Emmanuel Owusu Kissi, Pastor in Charge of Shekinah Worship Center said the exercise is being considered to be an annual event due to its its positive impact.
He said more than 300 persons took part in the exercise some of whom were from different churches in the community.
Five persons gave their lives to Christ through the event during preaching of the gospel.
Fatima Owusu Kissi,Wife of the Pastor was optimistic that, the healthy living education will influence how meals are prepared in homes among women to prevent non-communicable diseases.
