Homily by Rev. Fr. Dodzi Gbleh on the Feast of holy trinity.
The Feast of the Holy Trinity teaches Christians about the loving nature of God. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit live in perfect unity, showing believers how to live together in peace and harmony. God is a God of love who brings people together and not one who encourages division, hatred, or conflict. Through the Gospel message, Christians are reminded of God’s great love for the world, shown through the gift of His only Son for the salvation of humanity. Believers are therefore encouraged to draw closer to God and also strengthen their relationship with their neighbours.
The homily emphasized that baptism is a call to live in unity and imitate the character of God. God is merciful, patient, and forgiving, and Christians are expected to show these same qualities in their daily lives. The Trinity does not compete or become jealous of one another, yet jealousy and unhealthy competition are often found among Christians today. The faithful were reminded that true followers of Christ should avoid envy, hatred, and division, and instead cooperate, support, and celebrate one another.
The message also focused on the importance of love and reconciliation within families, communities, and the Church. Many people who once lived peacefully with one another become enemies because of misunderstandings, but Christians are called to let love overcome every conflict. The homily warned against praying for the downfall of others and encouraged believers to show kindness, forgiveness, and understanding at all times. Receiving Holy Communion means becoming more like Jesus and reflecting His love in every aspect of life.
Finally, the second reading from St. Paul encouraged Christians to remain joyful, encourage one another, and continue doing good. The homily challenged believers who attend church while still holding grudges against others, reminding them that Christianity is rooted in unity.
