DON'T RUN FROM THE BATTLE
2 Timothy 2:1-7
Today, being a gospel Sunday, Pastor Patrick Kofi Nyame, the district Pastor, reminded us that as Christians, we're in a daily battle between good and evil. The devil wants to destroy everything good in our lives, but God has a plan to prosper us.
This battle we are fighting isn't just between people, but between:

- God's ideas and the devil's ideas
- God's ethics and the devil's ethics
- God's beliefs and Satan's beliefs
- God's principles and the devil's principles
- God's kingdom and Satan's kingdom

Just as soldiers donot mingle and live among civilians, we as Christians also need not to involve ourselves in certain things. We should:
1. Put on the whole armor of God(Ephesians 6:10)
2. Submit to God and draw close to Him (James 4:7-8)
3. Resist the devil and he will flee
4. Study and apply God's word (2 Timothy 3:16)
5. Apply the blood of Jesus (Revelations 12:11)
6. Love God and love our neighbors

A good Christian soldier has five key qualities (the five F's):

1.Every good Soldier is a follower: We should follow God's rules and obey people of authority and give reverance to our leaders

2. Every good Soldier is faithful: We should endure hardships and seek to please Jesus, our commander.

3. Every good Soldier is Familiar: We should know God's voice, use His weapons (word, fasting, prayer), and understand the enemy's strategy.

4. Every good Soldier is a Fighter: We should be determined, ambitious, and dedicated to our goal, even to death.

5. Every good Soldier is a finisher: We resolve issues, focus on rewards, and have a reason for our actions.

He concluded by asking the question "What will make you quit as a believer"?

*EXCERPTS FROM THE SERMON PREACHED ON 28TH JULY,2024

As the National Youth Week 2024 came to a close, we were honored to receive the teachings of Elder Felix Owusu Mensah. He spoke to us on the theme:
" *Unleashed to Reach Out for Maximum Impact."*

He began by acknowledging the economic hardships and corruption in our country. He emphasized that as young people, we should strive to make a positive impact, specifically in our own country. He urged us to seek transformation, wherever we find ourselves.

Again, he encouraged the youth to transform not just their immediate circles, but to work towards the transformation of the entire country. He explained that to be "unleashed" means to be released, scattered, dispersed, or deployed with a clear purpose. He advised us to direct our "unleashed" energy towards specific, impactful goals.

Also,he admonished us to seek the presence of God whenever we face challenges or difficulties. He quoted the National Youth Director, who said that being "unleashed" means, letting go of the past with renewed energy, moving forward with a clear purpose, becoming unstoppable and unrestricted, and breaking free from the things that hold us back.

The elder emphasized that "to reach out" means to get to everywhere and take charge of the places we find ourselves. "Maximum impact" refers to having significant improvements in the areas we aim to influence.

He urged the youth to be available whenever the church needs them and to share the word of God with everyone they encounter.

To prepare for this "reaching out," he advised us to:
1. live our entire lives in the presence of God
2. Have Jesus as our role model, and to allow God's plan for our growth to guide us.

In conclusion, He outlined the four (4) reachout strategies:
1. Target a soul and pray for them
2. Intentionally preach to these individuals
3. Follow up on them ( Matthew 23:15)
4. Disciple the souls

EXCERPTS FROM THE LAUNCHING OF THE NATIONAL YOUTH WEEK 2024

Sermon by: Pastor Herbert Fiifi Acheampong (Area youth leader)

Theme: Unleashed to reach out for maximum impact

Topic: The rise of Gods' new Elisha's and
Peter's / The continuation of the Act of the Apostles

Scripture References:
1 kings 19:19-21
Mathew 3:11
Luke 24:49
Acts 1:8

In 1 Kings 19:19-21, we see Elisha as the continuation of Elijah's legacy. In this present time, we are mortal beings working for the immortal but relying on the power of the holy spirit

As Acts 1:8 reminds us, the fire of the Holy Spirit precedes the gospel. Without this divine fire, our message falls flat. The Holy Spirit empowers us and the fire within us quenches and overcomes evil

To effectively preach the gospel or evangelize, we need the power of the Holy Spirit. This power reflects God's nature, abilities, and presence. When we receive this power, we become reflections of God's character.

Concluding, As 1 Corinthians 9:16 emphasizes, preaching the gospel is a necessity. Just as the Apostles spread the message from Jerusalem to Judea then to Samaria, it's our turn to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. To the ends of the earth is our spheres of influence. Therefore, let us seek the power to influence our spheres (our schools, workplaces, markets, and beyond).

EXCERPTS FROM THE SERMON ON SUNDAY, 21/07/2024

Speaker: Elder Anthony Antwi

Theme:The impact of the Christian home on the church

Scripture References: Numbers 6:22-27, 2 Timothy 1:5

What is a Christian home?
A Christian home has Jesus Christ as the Lord, Christian marriage as the foundation of the home, the fear of God as the native air of the home and biblical norms and values constitute the culture of the family.

The church, be it the local assembly, denomination or the body of Christ, is a primary beneficiary in raising a Christian
and godly home.

*Impacts of the Christian home on the church*
* A godly Christian family impacts the church by enriching the worship life of the church, providing personnel to serve in the various ministries of the church according to their spiritual giftings and endowment.

* The godly Christian home becomes the church’s arm in practising hospitality and Christian charity; they support the church financially, and provide the men and women who are equipped for church offices as full-time and parttime officials.

* The members of the Christian family become focal points for discipleship groups (Home Cells, Bible study, prayer, service to one another), community outreach, and evangelisation. As a result, their lives become salt, light, and yeast of the earth, bringing glory and making our faith relevant in a world looking for authenticity.

In a nutshell,In building godly families, we have to be intentional in prioritising faith, worship, prayer and instruction in the
word of God (Deut. 6:4-9).

Climaxing the 2nd area week, the church discussed into details, "Marriage and Family life" which is the eleventh tenet of the church.

*Speaker:* Elder Anthony Antwi

*Topic:* Co-habitation and it's negative impact

*Scripture References:* Genesis 2:24, Eph 6:4,

*PREVIOUS LESSONS REVIEWED*
The church had a powerful and insightful series of sermons on marriage and family life throughout the week highlighting it's importance as an institution and a reflection of God's love. The sermons emphasized that, marriage is a lifelong commitment, a school where we learn and grow together, with love as it's foundation and the Lord as it's principal.

The purpose of marriage, as outlined in the sermons, included;

1. Replicating God's nature and image on Earth, with the man and woman representing Christ and the Holy Spirit respectively.
2. Demonstrating God's love.
3. Raising God-fearing generations.
4. Viewing children as blessings from the Lord.

The sermons also emphasized the essential qualities that makes marriage work. Such include:

1. Sacrifices
2. Commitment
3. Service
4. Selflessness
5. Communication and intimacy
6. Forgiveness

These messages encourages couples to approach marriage with a biblical perspective, prioritizing mutual support, love, and dedication to each other and to God.

*EXCERPTS FROM TODAY'S SERMON*
What is cohabitation?
It refers to two individuals living together as a couple without formal marriage.

From a legal standpoint, if a couple cohabits for over six months and the man passes away, the woman is entitled to a share of his property.

Culturally, if couple live together without performing traditional marriage rites, the man must pay a fine to the woman's family and complete the necessary rites before her burial.

The Bible also discourages cohabitation, instead, emphasizing the importance of marriage.

*NEGATIVE IMPACTS OF CO-HABITATION*
- It hinders future marriage prospects
- It increases likelihood of breakups
- It is a waste of time and resources
- Lack of recognition and respect
- Limiting one's Christian life and spiritual growth
- It leads to frustration and depression

*CAUSES*
-Unemployment
-Personal beliefs.
