WHERE IS YOUR HOPE?
Precious one, there are moments in life when everything around you seems uncertain—your plans are delayed, your prayers appear unanswered, your financial uncertainty, relationships may disappoint you, and the future may look unclear. The Bible says, “Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God” (Psalm 42:5). Hope is not pretending that problems do not exist; hope is choosing to believe that God is greater than the problem. When your hope is in people, circumstances, money, connections or your own strength, disappointment can easily break you, but when your hope is in God, even a difficult season cannot have the final word. As Corrie ten Boom famously said, “Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.” Today, God is calling you to move your expectation from what can fail to the One who never fails: “Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is” (Jeremiah 17:7). Your situation may have changed, but God has not changed; your strength may be exhausted, but His strength is still sufficient; and what you cannot see today, God is already working behind the scenes. Because God has a "perfect plan of peace, not evil, to give you a hopeful future.” (Jeremiah 29:11). Therefore, do not allow yesterday's disappointment to determine tomorrow's expectation. Where is your hope? Let your answer be: My hope is in the Lord.
David once returned to Ziklag with his men and discovered that the Amalekites had invaded the city, burned it with fire, and taken their families captive. The situation made David and his wept until they had no strength to weep again (1 Samuel 30:4). To make matters worse, David's own men began talking about stoning him because they were bitter over what had happened (1 Samuel 30:6). Humanly speaking, David had every reason to lose hope: his city was destroyed, his family was missing, his men were against him. The Bible says “But David encouraged himself in the LORD his God” (1 Samuel 30:6). David did not encourage himself in the circumstances; he encouraged himself in God. “Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them?” And God answered, “Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all” (1 Samuel 30:8). David pursued, defeated the enemy, and recovered everything that had been taken. The same God who gave David hope when everything appeared lost is still God today. Your present situation may be painful, but it is not your final chapter. When you cannot find hope in what you see, find hope in the God who sees what you cannot see. Halleluyah!
Your prayer bullet for the day
Lord Jesus, today I place my hope in You. Where disappointment has weakened me, strengthen me; where delay has discouraged me, renew my expectation; and where financial pressure has troubled me, make a way for me. When people fail me, remind me that You will never leave nor forsake me. I declare that my hope will not die because my circumstances have changed. I will wait upon You, knowing that “they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength.” Restore what I thought was lost, revive what has become weak, and give me new expectation. My soul, I will wait upon God, “for my expectation is from him.” I believe His promises concerning me shall come to pass. My hope is in Him, my future is in His hands, and I will yet see His goodness “in the land of the living," in Jesus Christ precious name, Amen.
