Apostle Clement Corley Agbovi Hushie

Apostle Clement Corley Agbovi Hushie was born on July 16, 1921, to Mr Martin Tawiah Agbovi Hushie and Madam Lydia Tay at Keta in the Volta Region of Ghana.

His curiosity as a Journalist led him to Palladium, James Town in Accra, where he intended interviewing some church leaders on “false prophets”. He ended up being converted to the Apostle Faith Church.

C.C.A. Hushie was a member of the Bombers Group, an evangelistic group within the then Witness Movement, which evangelized the Greater Accra, Eastern and Volta Regions.

He obediently responded to the call of God as a full-time minister in January 1950, at the age of 29. A prophetic message at the Group’s meeting had declared that members of the Group would be sent to the field. His call was confirmed through a second prophetic message at Akim Oda in 1949 at a Christmas Convention.

C.C.A. Hushie, as one of the first generational ministers of The Church of Pentecost, was the first minister to serve in the Volta Region. His first station was Peki, where church membership was only 4. The success story of the Church in the Volta Region dates back to the toils and submission of C.C.A. Hushie to the leading of the Holy Spirit.

He was ordained into the pastorate on April 21, 1954, and served at 8 stations. They are Pekei, Keta, Ho, Koforidua, Nkawkaw, Lome in Togo, Akim Oda and Sunyani.

He was ordained an Apostle of The Church of Pentecost in 1957. He was a keen church planter and a gifted healer.

Apostle Hushie was married to Lucy Korkor; together they were blessed with 8 children.

Apostle Hushie retired from active ministry in 1986 at Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo Region. In all, his ministry covered a period of 36 years. He passed on to glory on September 9, 2000, at the age of 79 years.

The Church of Pentecost, like most great institutions, started in a small way. The Church’s beginnings are linked to the ministry of Pastor James McKeown (1900-1989); an Irish missionary sent by the Apostolic Church, Bradford, United Kingdom (UK), to the then Gold Coast (now Ghana) in 1937 to help...
