Joshua 3:5 NIV
[5] Joshua told the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.
It was time the Israelites were supposed to cross the Jordan to Jericho, they had camped for 3 days at the other side of the Jordan.
These people had seen God split the Red Sea but for some reason, they was a little doubt how they would cross the Jordan.
Joshua, they're new leader had not been used by God to perform any miracle yet unlike Moses. It's only natural for them not to have much faith in Joshua as they did in Moses.
So God tells Joshua what he'll do. In confidence he gathered the Israelites and gave them a direct instruction on how they would cross the Jordan. The water receded as the crossed n a dry land. (Josh 3:15-17)
What does lesson(s) do we learn from this story? When you are at a cross road, not knowing where to turn; Trust in God. When life meets you with ups and downs, Trust in God. When all seem to be going right, Trust in God. This year, hold on to these words he said to Joshua and the Israelites "...the Lord will do amazing things among you," Amen
