Title of Message: The Mysteries of Thanksgiving
Text: 1 Thess 5:18; Php 4:6; John 6:11
God wants us to express our gratitude to Him. As Christians, thanking God is very important. Whenever something is done in our lives, God expects us to give thanks to Him. As a matter of fact, our lives should be thanksgiving. The Bible says: “In everything (all circumstances) give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus (1 Thess 5:18)”. This is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. So, if you are alive, we should be alive to thank God. This is because, in thanksgiving, that is where God is glorified.
The Scripture also says: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God (Php 4:6)”. Therefore, as believers, we should learn to live a life of thanksgiving. We should learn to convert our complaints into thanksgiving.
We must thank God for the things we see and the things we do not see. The Bible says: “Every good and perfect gift comes from God (James 1:17)”. We should therefore declare and thank God for whatever He does in our lives. We shouldn’t sit on our thanksgiving because sitting on it might blocks our further opportunities.
What Does Thanksgiving Do in Our Lives?
1. Thanksgiving can turn scarce resources into abundance. If you thank God for the little, God turns the little into abundance. (John 6:11)
2. Whenever we thank God, He completes our miracles (Luke 17:17-19). Sometimes, the miracle comes, but without thanksgiving, it might not stay.
3. Thanksgiving is an act of great Faith. The Scripture says “Faith is our victory over the world (1 John 5:14)”. One way to exercise your faith is to thank God no matter the situation you find yourself.
May you receive the Spirit of Thanksgiving in Jesus Name! Amen!
