LEARN MORE ABOUT THE MCKEOWN MISSIONS WEEK

》PURPOSE
McKeown Missions Week is an annual event in The Church of Pentecost. It is dedicated to celebrating the church's missions enterprise which involves taking the Gospel of Christ to every village, town, city, and nation of the world, converting various people groups to the Christian faith, and planting indigenous, self-sustaining, Spirit-filled churches to disciple the converts for Jesus.
Often referred to as "The Mother of all Weeks", it is named in honour of Pastor James McKeown, the Irish missionary who founded the church in Ghana. Originally known as the Gold Coast Apostolic Church, it was later renamed the Ghana Apostolic Church in 1957, and finally adopted the name The Church of Pentecost on August 1, 1962.
It is worth-mentioning here that, from its humble beginnings in the then small town of Asamankese in the Eastern Region of Ghana, the church has grown rapidly to become one of the largest pentecostal denominations with presence in 211 nations of the world - as of January, 2026.
》ACTIVITIES OF THE WEEK
During McKeown Missions Week, members meet together within their local congregations to undertake the following:
1. To intercede for missionaries and the growth of the church worldwide.
2. To listen to and watch testimonies or stories shared by specific missionaries profiled for the week.
3. To engage in aggressive evangelism and community impact projects.
4. To raise financial support for the Missions Directorate to sustain the church's missions drive and efforts.
