The Essential Truth
Matthew 1:21 (ESV) is a prophecy: “She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.”
Martin Luther once said, “If anyone stands firm and right on this point, that Jesus Christ is true God and true man, who died and rose again for us, all the other articles of the Christian faith will fall in place for them and firmly sustain them.”

Resist and Flee
James 4:7 (ESV) says, “So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
You and I cannot resist sin on our own strength. At some point, we must admit that we are powerless against sin. But with God’s help, we can do all things.

God Is Near
Psalm 68:19 (NLT) says, “Praise the Lord; praise God our savior! For each day he carries us in his arms.”
Jesus has removed our sin so that you and I can have a relationship with God. Not only that, but He also loves us intimately and fills us with His Spirit and surrounds us with love. The veil is torn so that we may now be in God’s presence, full of joy and abounding in love. He carries us in His arms and close to His heart.

THE D.E.A.T.H. MOMENT OF ALEXANDER THE GREAT
His death is still shrouded in mystery. However, the story of this great emperor's death is still being passed on unceasingly.
The story goes that he realized that death was coming and that he would not be able to return to his homeland in time. He told his officers: “I am about to leave this world. I have 3 wishes. Do what I say." The generals obeyed with teary eyes.
1. Let the best healers carry my coffin.
2. Spread my possessions, including all money, gold, diamonds, gems on the way to the cemetery.
3. Let my hands hang loose and leave them out for all to see.
One of his generals was so surprised by these unusual requests that he asked Alexander for an explanation. Alexander the Great replied:
"I want the best healers to carry my coffin to prove that, in the face of death, even the best healers in the world don't have the power to bring death back to life.
I want to spread all the gold coins on the road to let everyone know that, if you have wealth on this Earth, wealth will have to stay on Earth.
I want my hands to swing in the wind, to make people understand that, as we came into this world with empty hands, we also leave this world with empty hands. We will have nothing left, after our most precious asset has run out, which is HEALTH and TIME."

The Power of God
Romans 1:16 (ESV) says, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel; it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who has faith, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.”
God’s power is beyond what we can comprehend and unlike anything we can imagine. It’s not self-seeking or manipulative or greedy. God’s power is so unique that it may not make sense to a watching world.

Take Every Thought Captive
2 Corinthians 10:4-5 (ESV) reminds us, “For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ.”
As Sons and Daughters of God, we are exhorted to “take every thought captive to obey Christ.” This is an action. A battle. A war for our heart, mind, soul, and strength. It’s an aggressive posture that seems at odds with living a life of peace. But somehow God’s highest ideal for us is to live in peace while simultaneously waging war against thoughts that are not His own.

Trade in Your Wrath
Romans 12:19 (ESV) says, “Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say, ‘I will take revenge; I will pay them back,’ says the Lord.”
Your anger might be sinful. It might be born from hatred or selfishness or wounded pride. Or your anger might be righteous. It might be a sign that something is wrong. Anger at injustice is righteous anger.
But in either case, your anger should never lead you to seek revenge.

Examine How You Live
Lamentations 3:40 (ESV) encourages us, “Let us test and examine our ways, and return to the Lord!”
Think about the last time you went to the doctor. The doctor studied you carefully in order to make a proper assessment of your condition. In the same way, we all need spiritual check-ups to assess our spiritual condition to make sure we’re on track.

Walk Your Talk
James 1:22-25 (ESV) says, “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it -- not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it -- they will be blessed in what they do.”
God’s Word is the key to joy and peace. It’s the secret to true freedom—and it tells us how we can escape the shackles of sin.
But it can only impact us fully if we live it out.
Here’s the good news: God—through the Holy Spirit— has given you the power to follow His Word.

Number Your Days
Psalm 90:12 (ESV) asks God, “So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.”
God has a plan for you. He knows exactly how long he wants you to serve him on the earth. That doesn’t mean you can just let your body waste away. It means that you make the most of each day that you have.

Joy in the Unseen
2 Corinthians 5:6-7 (ESV) says, “So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight."
Waiting sure can be hard, can’t it? In Romans, Paul says that waiting is so hard it feels like a woman groaning in labor. She longs to meet her baby, but she’s still stuck in the pain of birth. Waiting well requires faith in what will come.

Walking By the Spirit
Galatians 5:16 (ESV) says, “But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.”
Trying to be saved by following the rules is like reading the operation manual for your phone… over and over again. Sure, you need to know how to work it, but you also have to actually turn it on to get anything out of it
