HISTORY OF BETHEL SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH, ASAMAN, ASHANTI
Bethel Seventh-Day Adventist Church came up as a result of Asamang Central Church plan under the leadership of Pr. Okyere Baffour as a result of the far distance church members had to travel to Central Seventh-Day Church for various church activities. Bethel Church was started as a Branch Sabbath School with about 12 members and later converted to a company church. Okyere Baffour who was the church pastor of Central S.D.A. Church, Asamang. An agreement was reached to relocate some members of Central S.D.A. Church, to join Bethel Church. The church leaders at that time decided to put the demarcation at the late Opanin Agyapong’s area near Omary’s house. This means that those around that area will form the Bethel Seventh-Day Adventist Church. This company church was organized on the 12th day of June, 2004 by Pastor Nti. Osei-Kofi (Ministerial Secretary of South Ghana Conference) and Pastor E. Amponsah (Assistant Treasurer of South Ghana Conference). The first batch of leaders of Bethel Church were Eld. Nyame, Eld. Opoku Boakye and the late Eld. James Aborah Konadu with 173 members. The church used to worship at Amoakohene D/A JHS School premises. It was Eld. Nyame and family who sold two plots of land to the church to set up a building. Now the church has present membership of 500 and Sabbath School membership of 400. We thank the Almighty God for how far He has brought the church. We also thank all pastors and the church members who have brought this church far.
