The sermon was delivered by Pastor Mawuena during the retirement service, with Exodus 33:14 as the central biblical text: “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” The message drew attention to the uncertainty Moses experienced as he faced the journey ahead. Although Moses did not know exactly what the future held, he found assurance in God’s promise that His presence would accompany him.
Relating this biblical account to retirement, Pastor Mawuena emphasised that retirement is not an end, but a transition into a new season of life. Just as Moses was assured of God’s presence beyond what he could see, the retirees can also step into the future with confidence, knowing that the same God who guided, strengthened and sustained him throughout his years of active service will continue to lead him.
The sermon therefore encouraged the retirees to embrace this new chapter with faith and gratitude, trusting that God’s presence will remain with him, bringing guidance, peace, renewed strength and rest. The message served as a timely reminder that while human seasons and responsibilities may change, God’s faithfulness remains constant.
