KING SOLOMON HAD MANY WIFES
Was God pleased with Solomon having many wife's and concubines?
NO!!! God was not pleased with Solomon's many wives. The Bible states that his wives led him astray, causing him to turn away from God and worship other gods, according to 1 Kings 11. Solomon's sin was not simply having many wives, but rather the fact that he married foreign wives who practiced idolatry, and he was not able to resist their influence.
Here's why this was a problem:
Idolatry:
God had specifically instructed the Israelites not to intermarry with foreign nations, knowing they would be influenced by their gods.
Influence on Solomon:
Solomon's love for his foreign wives caused him to "clung to them in love" and to allow their pagan [idolatry] practices to influence his heart, leading him away from the Lord.
Consequences:
As a result of his sin, the Lord punished Solomon by taking away most of the tribes of Israel from his rule.
