To the glory of God, the Akuapem Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, under the leadership of the Presbytery Chairperson, Rev. Ebenezer Acheampong Asiedu, together with members of the Presbytery Session Council Standing Committee, received the 14th Clerk of the General Assembly, Rev. David Aboagye-Danquah, on an official inspection visit to the proposed Ahwerase District, carved out of the Aburi District.
The inspection exercise took place at the proposed Head Station, Prince of Peace Congregation, Ahwerase, and brought together representatives of all eight (8) congregations and six (6) preaching points within the proposed District. The gathering formed a key step in the Churchβs constitutional process toward the eventual elevation of the Ahwerase District.
As part of the exercise, the congregations presented their statutory and administrative records for inspection and verification. These included Session Minutes, Congregational Committee Minutes, Membership Registers, Baptismal and Marriage Registers, Financial Records, Property Documents, and other essential records required to assess the readiness and viability of the proposed District.
The Clerk of the General Assembly carefully examined the documents and engaged Ministers, Catechists, Presbytery leaders, and congregation representatives. He expressed satisfaction with the high level of preparedness demonstrated, commending the proposed District for its discipline, orderly administration, effective record-keeping, and steady growth of the Church in the area.
In addition to the document review, Rev. David Aboagye-Danquah inspected the administrative offices and related facilities that will support the work of the District upon its elevation, noting the level of development and readiness.
Addressing the gathering, the Clerk urged the leadership and membership of the proposed District to remain united, committed, and steadfast in their Christian witness. He emphasized discipline, accountability, evangelism, and stewardship as essential pillars for sustaining church growth and effective ministry.
On behalf of the Akuapem Presbytery, the Presbytery Chairperson, Rev. Ebenezer Acheampong Asiedu, expressed gratitude to the Clerk for the visit and guidance, while commending the Ministers, Catechists, officers, and members of the proposed Ahwerase District for their dedication and cooperation throughout the process.
The visit concluded with prayers and thanksgiving, acknowledging Godβs grace upon the Church and the continued growth of the Akuapem Presbytery, as well as the progress toward the establishment and elevation of the proposed Ahwerase District.
It is expected that the Clerk of the General Assembly will submit a detailed report on the inspection visit to the forthcoming June General Assembly Council (GAC) meeting for consideration and possible approval of the elevation of the proposed Ahwerase District.
It is worth noting that at the 34th District Session of the Aburi District held in 2025, the District formally resolved to request the creation of the Ahwerase District. The request was forwarded to the Akuapem Presbytery, and after careful deliberations and background checks by the Presbytery Session Council Standing Committee, it was endorsed and submitted to the General Assembly Council for consideration.
