YOU HAVE ENOUGH

'Ask and you will receive.' John 16:24 NIV

Have you been praying, and God hasn't yet answered? Why not? (1) Maybe you're expecting a lot from God but not much from yourself. Perhaps he's asking you to work harder by utilising the ingenuity he's given you. God's promises are never an excuse for laziness. Elijah was in a devastating drought when God said, 'Go to the brook Cherith. I will send ravens to feed you' (see 1 Kings 17:1-4). Elijah could have replied, 'Lord, I'm exhausted! Can't you send them here?' Instead, 'he...did according to the word of the Lord' (1 Kings 17:5 NKJV). Ask God if there is something you should be doing, and when he tells you - do it.

(2) Perhaps your prayers are not explicit enough. Doesn't God already know what you need? Yes, but he wants to hear it from you. 'You don't have what you want because you don't ask God for it' (James 4:2 NLT). God wants you to persist in prayer: 'Keep on asking...keep on seeking...keep on knocking' (Luke 11:9 NLT).

(3) You fail to realise that God wants to meet your needs - in his time. 'But what if my problem gets worse?' Don't worry; it will never be too big for God to resolve! From time to time, he waits in order to do something even greater. Lazarus was so sick that he died, but Jesus didn't respond immediately. He waited so he could raise him from the dead (see John 11:1-6, 43-44). People tend to think their request is God's best answer to their need, even though he says: 'The Lord will withhold no good thing from those who do what is right' (Psalm 84:11 NLT).

AS CINCO COROAS (3)

'A coroa da justiça me está guardada.' 2 Timóteo 4:8 NVI

A terceira coroa mencionada nas Escrituras é a coroa da justiça. Paulo escreve: 'Combati o bom combate... completei a corrida... guardei a fé. Finalmente, a coroa da justiça me está guardada, a qual o Senhor... me dará naquele Dia e... a todos os que amarem a sua vinda' (2 Timóteo 4:7-8 NVI).

Um pastor amplia isso: 'O livro de 2 Timóteo representa o último escrito conhecido do apóstolo Paulo, e temos motivos para acreditar que ele foi decapitado logo após escrever estas palavras. Mas, em vez de temer a morte, ele ansiava pela Segunda Vinda. Ele estava... satisfeito com seu histórico de serviço ao Mestre. O uso que Paulo faz da metáfora atlética aqui é especialmente descritivo da vida do crente porque descreve luta, perseverança, disciplina e vitória final. A Coroa da Justiça está reservada para aqueles que anseiam pelo Senhor Jesus e aguardam a Sua volta. Escrevendo a Tito, Paulo fala sobre "aguardar a bendita esperança e o aparecimento da glória do nosso grande Deus e Salvador Jesus Cristo" (Tito 2:13 NVI). O pastor continua: "Os psicólogos nos dizem que a expectativa... é uma emoção com maravilhosos poderes de cura. Pessoas presas pela neve sustentam seus espíritos antecipando os dias mais longos da primavera e do verão. Casais... separados por missões militares mantêm a sanidade antecipando o reencontro... Noivos e noivas anseiam pelo dia do casamento."

Seus melhores dias estão por vir, e você pode antecipar as glórias do Céu e da eternidade. Isso deve motivá-lo a ser fiel a Jesus enquanto aguarda o Seu retorno.

BUILD YOUR STRENGTH

'They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength.' Isaiah 40:31 TLB

The word 'perish' conjures up images of deterioration and decay, like fruit rotting from within. On what specific day does passion leave a marriage or a worker lose interest in a job that once excited them? Like air leaking silently out of a tyre, what was meant to carry our weight and power us towards our destiny can now barely wobble.

If this is how you're feeling, allow this promise to take root within you: 'He gives power to the tired and worn out, and strength to the weak. Even the youths shall be exhausted, and the young men will all give up. But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint' (Isaiah 40:29-31 TLB). The great apostle Paul told his admirers, 'We too are only human, like you' (Acts 14:15 NIV). We are all made of the same flawed material. That's why we need God's strength and mercy newly bestowed on us each day (see Lamentations 3:22-23).

So, what should you do when you're feeling 'blah'? Two things. First, if you're physically tired - rest. Second, think about how God's family works and stop isolating. The Bible says, 'Carry each other's burdens' (Galatians 6:2 NIV). The fact is, you have given to others in times past, now have the grace and humility to receive from them. Reach out. Use your connections. Start reading God's word. Listen to uplifting music and fill your space with praise. When you do these things, your focus will change and your faith will start to rise.

BE REAL

'I judge people by what is in their hearts.' 1 Samuel 16:7 CEV

Jesus was very direct with the Pharisees: 'You look like righteous people, but inwardly your hearts are filled with hypocrisy and lawlessness' (Matthew 23:28 NLT). The Pharisees put on a good front but had little grace, mercy or compassion.

How can you develop your inner person? (1) Follow Jesus' example. He spent his life ministering to the hurting, the forgotten, the lost and lonely. (2) Keep in mind that even though you're a Christian, you'll still struggle in certain areas, so don't act like you 'have it all together'. (3) Ask God to reveal behaviour patterns that are appearance-oriented instead of heart-oriented. (4) Surround yourself with people who encourage you to be real and correct you when you need it.

Marybeth Whalen writes: 'The painters painted the wall leading downstairs...A week later I discovered, while the wall had been repainted, the habits hadn't changed. The kids were still dragging their dirty hands behind them, making what was white and clean, grey and dirty. Like that wall, if I'm not careful I can cover up what's there...wear the Christian tee shirt, carry my Bible, smile like everything's great, and talk a good game about my walk with the Lord. But deep inside the ugly habits are waiting to be revealed the moment life gets messy. I can become a modern-day Pharisee who focuses on the whitewash and ignores the dirty stuff underneath.' So, be real.

AS MY BIRTHDAY COMING ON NEXT WEEK MONDAY DECEMBER 9. This what the Lord has laid on my heart. I am appealing to friends, Ministers, and everyone to support me raise an amount of $100 USD to buy 2 half pieces of cloth to donate to two widows in my community as well as getting groceries for their kids as Christmas gift. One has three kids and the other has 5 kids. You may also give me the cloth and whatever sweets for the kids.

TAKE TIME TO REST.

'He lets me rest in green pastures... leads me to calm water.' Psalm 23:2 NCV

When you find yourself saying, 'I don't know how much longer I can keep this up,' you may need to change some of your priorities and adjust your lifestyle. The psalmist said, 'I am...wonderfully made' (Psalm 139:14 NKJV). God designed our bodies to give us warnings when we're pushing too hard, like an ache here or a pain there. But we ignore these warnings until we become too sick to ignore them any longer. And because we live in the most medicated generation in history, we take prescriptions, pills and potions, hoping that's the answer. But it's a short-term cure. We can't ignore God's direction to take time to rest and not pay a price for it.

Nobody had a greater purpose or a more important mission than Jesus and his disciples. Yet he instructed them to take time out for rest and relaxation (see Mark 6:31). Pastor, is this an area of discipleship you need to practise and teach your people? The church should not keep people so busy that it negatively affects their health and hurts their family relationships.

If you're living an unsustainable life today, stop putting off making the changes you need to make. Don't wait until something happens, like a health problem or a family problem. Make changes now to live the kind of life God wants you to live. When you live God's way, you will discover a new level of peace in your life. 'He makes me to lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside the still waters' (Psalm 23:2 NKJV).
