You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation; announce the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

The Retreat Conductor, the Venerable Paul Akomea Marfo during his homily encouraged Rev. Thomas Owusu, Rev. Fr. Augustine Baafi and Rev. Fr. Jenkins Ohene Boateng not to be afraid as they takes on this new ministry of the diaconate and priesthood. The Homilist in his homily charged the newly ordained deacon and priests to soley rely on God in all their work as a deacon and priests. Venerable Paul Akomea Marfo also asked the lay faithful to support the newly ordained deacon and priests by praying for them and providing them with some resources they will need in their diaconate and priestly ministry. The Homilist also used the opportunity to encourage young ones who feel called to the religious life not to be afraid but seek God's guidance and protection throughout their formation. The laity were also encouraged to support young ones who wish to respond to the call into Holy orders.

The newly ordained deacon and priests received congratulations wishes and messages from their family, the Anglican Priests Association of Koforidua, Seminarians, societies and well wishers.

While God made his entire people a royal priesthood in Christ, Jesus chooses certain disciples to carry out publicly in His name the priestly office in the Church.

Right Reverend Father, Holy Mother Church asks you to ordain these men, our brothers, to the responsibility of the diaconate and priesthood.

May the Lord Jesus Christ, whom the Father anointed with the Holy Spirit and power, guard and preserve you.

WEDNESDAY, 1ST WEEK IN ADVENT.
(Feast of St. Andrews)

READINGS:
Romans 10: 9-18
Psalm 18: 2-5
Matthew 4: 18-22

THEME: FOLLOW ME.

WORD OF THE DAY:
β€œAs he walked by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon who is called Peter and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. And he said to them, follow me, and I will make you fishers of men” (Matthew 4: 18-19).

Today’s gospel text recounts the story of how a call from the Lord changed the directions of the lives of the first disciples, who leave everything and follow him. Jesus invites them to a new way to life, for they cannot be open to the work of God unless they have their ears opened by His word.

As we celebrate the Feast of St. Andrews let us reflect on our own spiritual journey and how our discipleship has led us to a new way of life. May our desire to follow the Lord with a sincere heart be renewed each day.

PRAYER POINT:
Lord, may we make the best of this season, in order to open our hearts to you.
Amen πŸ™
