The Anglican Diocese of Koforidua in the Eastern Region of Ghana was blessed this weekend as three of their sons were ordained into the order of Diaconate and Priesthood. Rev. Thomas Owusu, Rev. Fr. Augustine Baafi and Rev. Fr. Jenkins Ohene Boateng was ordained as a Deacon and Priests on Sunday the 2nd of July, 2023 at the St. Andrewβs Anglican Church in Akim Oda.
The ordination was attended by priests and lay faithful from all over the Diocese and outside the Diocese mostly the township of Akim Oda.
The Retreat Conductor, the Venerable Paul Akomea Marfo during his homily encouraged Rev. Thomas Owusu, Rev. Fr. Augustine Baafi and Rev. Fr. Jenkins Ohene Boateng not to be afraid as they takes on this new ministry of the diaconate and priesthood. The Homilist in his homily charged the newly ordained deacon and priests to soley rely on God in all their work as a deacon and priests. Venerable Paul Akomea Marfo also asked the lay faithful to support the newly ordained deacon and priests by praying for them and providing them with some resources they will need in their diaconate and priestly ministry. The Homilist also used the opportunity to encourage young ones who feel called to the religious life not to be afraid but seek God's guidance and protection throughout their formation. The laity were also encouraged to support young ones who wish to respond to the call into Holy orders.
The newly ordained deacon and priests received congratulations wishes and messages from their family, the Anglican Priests Association of Koforidua, Seminarians, societies and well wishers.
Representatives of Chiefs in Damongo, the Minister of Defence and the Member of Parliament for Damongo were present at the Ordination Mass.
The Anglican Bishop of Koforidua, the Right Rev. Felix Odei Annancy used the occasion to congratulate the newly ordained deacon and priests and charged the youth not to relent but answer the call to the sacrament of Holy Orders.
