BONWIRE DISTRICT REACHES OUT TO HOMEBOUND MEMBERS

Bonwire District is a newly established district of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, with Pastor David Papa Yaw Arkoh serving as its first district pastor. As the district continues to establish its identity and strengthen its mission, leadership has demonstrated that the work of the church extends beyond the walls of the sanctuary. In keeping with the mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church to care for people spiritually, emotionally, and socially, the leadership of Bonwire District embarked on a special visitation programme to reach out to members who have been unable to attend church regularly due to illness, advanced age, and difficult circumstances.

As part of the initiative, the district pastor, together with elders and church members, visited eight homebound members across the district. The visits provided an opportunity for the church family to identify with members in their moments of difficulty and to remind them that they remain an important part of the body of Christ. During each visit, a token was presented to the member as a gesture of love and support. Although the contribution may have been modest, it represented the collective care, concern, and willingness of the church family to share in the burdens of those who are going through challenging seasons.

The visitation was also a time of spiritual encouragement. Prayers were offered for healing, strength, peace, and divine intervention, while words of motivation and hope were shared with each member. The homebound members were encouraged not to lose faith in God because of their present circumstances, but to continue trusting Him for better and brighter days. The initiative demonstrated the importance of the church being present with its members not only during celebrations, but also during times of sickness, hardship, loneliness, and uncertainty.

The Bonwire District appreciates the commitment of Pastor David Papa Yaw Arkoh, the district elders, and all church members who contributed from their limited resources to bring comfort and smiles to the faces of the homebound. Their actions reflect the spirit of Christian love and the biblical call to “bear one another’s burdens” (Galatians 6:2). May this spirit of compassion continue to grow within Bonwire District, making the church a true source of hope, encouragement, and practical support to everyone within its care. May God richly bless all who contributed to this worthy cause and strengthen the district as it continues to advance the mission of Christ.

The centenary anniversary celebration of the Seventh-day Adventist Church at Sekyedumase was graced by the presence of Honourable Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, popularly known as “General Mosquito,” Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). His presence added significance to the historic occasion, as the church celebrated one hundred years of its existence, ministry, and contribution to the spiritual and social development of the community.

In his address, Honourable Asiedu Nketiah commended the Seventh-day Adventist Church for its longstanding contribution to national development. He particularly acknowledged the church’s role in supporting communities through the provision of social amenities, education, healthcare, humanitarian services, and other initiatives that complement the efforts of government. He noted that the church’s contribution extends beyond spiritual ministry and has positively impacted the lives of many people and communities across the country.

He further emphasized the importance of continued collaboration between government and religious organizations in addressing the developmental needs of the nation. According to him, government cannot work in isolation and therefore values the partnership of churches and other faith-based organizations in promoting the welfare and development of citizens. He assured the gathering that government would continue to explore opportunities to collaborate with churches in areas of mutual interest for the advancement of Ghana.

The centenary celebration therefore served not only as a commemoration of the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s hundred years of presence at Sekyedumase, but also as a recognition of the church’s broader contribution to society. The occasion brought together church leaders, members, community leaders, government representatives, and other stakeholders to celebrate the past while looking forward to greater opportunities for partnership, service, and continued community transformation.

DISTRICT CHILDREN’S MINISTRIES LEADERS BREAKFAST MEETING
The district Children’s Ministries leaders of the Mountain View Ghana Conference were called together for a special seminar organized by the Children’s Ministries Department under the leadership of its Director, Dr. Emmanuel Amihere Cobbinah. The seminar provided an important platform for leaders to reflect on their calling, responsibilities, and influence in the spiritual and holistic development of children. In his address, Dr. Cobbinah reminded the leaders that teaching children is more than an assignment or church responsibility; it is a Kingdom investment. By nurturing children in the ways of God, teachers are helping to prepare them to become responsible, disciplined, Christ-centered, and productive members of society.

The seminar also served as an opportunity to officially emphasize the OneVoice27 mission among Children’s Ministries leaders and teachers. The teachers were reminded that they are not only instructors but also models whose lives and actions can shape the faith and character of the children entrusted to them. Through their words, attitudes, conduct, and commitment to the mission of the Church, they are helping to build the future generation. The OneVoice27 emphasis therefore calls every teacher to recognize the significant role they play in leading children to understand God’s Word, discover their gifts, develop a sense of mission, and become active participants in sharing Christ with others.

As faithful stewards of the children God has entrusted to the Church, the leaders and teachers were called to renewed action and commitment. They were encouraged to continue creating an environment where every child feels valued, loved, nurtured, and guided toward a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Parents were also admonished to work closely with Children’s Ministries teachers, recognizing that the spiritual formation of children is a shared responsibility between the home and the Church. Through strong cooperation among parents, teachers, and church leaders, the Mountain View Ghana Conference can raise a generation of children who are grounded in the Bible, committed to Christ, and prepared to make a meaningful contribution to the Church and society.
