AMIC Gives Us Deeper Insight into Nurturing Our Children

Moving around the various camp meeting sites to register children and teachers through the Adventist Mission Intelligence Center (AMIC) has given us valuable insight into the spiritual lives, needs, and experiences of our children. What we have encountered is both encouraging and a strong call to action for the Church.

At several camp meetings, we discovered many non-Adventist children actively participating alongside our children. Interestingly, some of these children travelled to the camp meeting grounds with the Children’s Ministries groups without their parents. Their presence tells us something important: children are searching, learning, and responding to the spiritual environment we provide for them. It is therefore our responsibility to make that environment meaningful, safe, intentional, and spiritually enriching.

The insights from AMIC have proven that we cannot leave the spiritual upbringing of our children to chance. We must be deliberate about teaching them the Word of God, helping them build a personal relationship with Christ, providing caring mentors, and creating opportunities for them to participate in the life and mission of the Church. Catch them young, nurture them intentionally, and build them firmly on Christ—the Solid Rock. When the foundation is properly laid and continually nurtured, we can confidently look forward to a generation that will stand firm in faith and carry the mission of the Church forward.

AMIC has given us the insight; now the Church must respond with intentional action. Every child matters. Every child is a potential disciple. Every child is part of the future of God's Church.

CARING FOR OUR CHILDREN, BEING INTENTIONAL
At the Children's Camp Meeting of the Fawoade District, Sisters Agnes Pokuaa and Linda Gyan Gyimah of the Bampenase Church demonstrated that supporting Children's Ministries does not always require a large donation or an official position. During the triangular visitation of the MVGH CHM Director, Dr. Emmanuel Amihere Cobbinah to the district on Sabbath, 22 August 2026, the two sisters were found busily preparing fresh and crunchy popcorn for the children. It was learnt that their kindness did not begin at this year's Camp Meeting; since last year's Camp Meeting, they have continued to prepare popcorn for the children every Sabbath. As the treat was shared, the joy and excitement among the children were evident, providing a beautiful reminder that every church member can contribute to the nurture and happiness of children. Sometimes, ministry comes through a sermon, a song or a lesson—and sometimes, through fresh popcorn prepared with love.

More than 1,000 children were reached as the Children's Ministries Director of the Mountain View Ghana Conference, Dr Emmanuel Amihere Cobbinah, undertook a triangular visitation to the 2026 Children's Camp Meetings of the Ntonsu, Ankaase and Fawoade Districts on Sabbath, 22 August. The visitation provided an opportunity to interact with teachers, coordinators and children, observe the organisation of the various camps and appreciate the dedicated workers serving in Children's Ministries. Encouragingly, the children were organised into age-appropriate classes, with adequate teachers and volunteers, while the Camp Meeting materials and Bible-based craft activities were effectively used to keep them actively engaged. Teachers were encouraged, prayed with and personally appreciated, while the importance of registering children and teachers on the Adventist Mission Intelligence Center (AMIC) was also emphasised. With a combined attendance of 1,051 children, the visitation revealed the commitment of teachers, church leaders and members who continue to invest their time, resources and energy in nurturing the next generation for Christ.
