Acts 2
1 When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place.
2:2 And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting.
2:3 And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them.
2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.
2:5 Now there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men from every nation under heaven.
2:6 And at this sound the multitude came together, and they were bewildered, because each one was hearing them speak in his own language.
2:7 And they were amazed and astonished, saying, “Are not all these who are speaking Galileans?
2:8 And how is it that we hear, each of us in his own native language?
2:9 Parthians and Medes and Elamites and residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,
2:10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya belonging to Cyrene, and visitors from Rome,
2:11 both Jews and proselytes, Cretans and Arabians — we hear them telling in our own tongues the mighty works of God.”
2:12 And all were amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, “What does this mean?”
2:13 But others mocking said, “They are filled with new wine.”
2:14 But Peter, standing with the eleven, lifted up his voice and addressed them: “Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and give ear to my words.
2:15 For these people are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day.
2:16 But this is what was uttered through the prophet Joel:
2:17 “‘And in the last days it shall be, God declares,
that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh,
and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
and your young men shall see visions,
and your old men shall dream dreams;
2:18 even on my male servants and female servants
in those days I will pour out my Spirit, and they shall prophesy.
2:19 And I will show wonders in the heavens above
and signs on the earth below,
blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke;
2:20 the sun shall be turned to darkness
and the moon to blood,
before the day of the Lord comes, the great and magnificent day.
2:21 And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.’
2:22 “Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man attested to you by God with mighty works and wonders and signs that God did through him in your midst, as you yourselves know —
2:23 this Jesus, delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men.
2:24 God raised him up, loosing the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it.
2:25 For David says concerning him, “‘I saw the Lord always before me,
for he is at my right hand that I may not be shaken;
2:26 therefore my heart was glad, and my tongue rejoiced;
my flesh also will dwell in hope.
2:27 For you will not abandon my soul to Hades,
or let your Holy One see corruption.
2:28 You have made known to me the paths of life;
you will make me full of gladness with your presence.’
2:29 “Brothers, I may say to you with confidence about the patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.
2:30 Being therefore a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that he would set one of his descendants on his throne,
2:31 he foresaw and spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to Hades, nor did his flesh see corruption.
2:32 This Jesus God raised up, and of that we all are witnesses.
2:33 Being therefore exalted at the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this that you yourselves are seeing and hearing.
2:34 For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he himself says, “‘The Lord said to my Lord,
Sit at my right hand,
2:35 until I make your enemies your footstool.’
2:36 Let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.”
2:37 Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”
2:38 And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
2:39 For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.”
2:40 And with many other words he bore witness and continued to exhort them, saying, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation.”
2:41 So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls.
2:42 And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.
2:43 And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles.
2:44 And all who believed were together and had all things in common.
2:45 And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need.
2:46 And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts,
2:47 praising God and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.

JUST in case you EVER need to know (or if anyone ever asks) where I'm at theologically ... this is my "statement of faith" concerning salvation:

I BELIEVE there is ONE condition for salvation. And that is belief in the eternally existing Son of God, Yeshua HaMashiach (Jesus Christ). There is only one thing a sinner can do and MUST DO to be saved, and that is to believe God’s record concerning His son. "Change your mind" from unbelief to belief ... and believe in the gospel.

ANY human being that places their FAITH (pistis) in the person of Jesus Christ of the Bible and in His finished redemptive work on the cross … in THAT MOMENT is immediately & eternally saved from the penalty and the punishment for all their sins past, present and future.

I BELIEVE the gospel as declared by the apostle Paul to the church in Corinth:

1 Corinthians 15:1-4 KJV

[1] "Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;

[2] By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

[3] For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

[4] And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:"

I BELIEVE there is one God, who eternally exists in three persons—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (Matt. 3:16–17, 2 Cor. 13:14, Eph. 4:4–6).

I BELIEVE the good news found in John 3:16, that God so loved the world, that he gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should NOT perish, but have EVERLASTING life.

I BELIEVE that we are God’s “workmanship” (or poiēma in greek), saved by grace through faith for good works as stated in Ephesians 2:8-10. And that salvation is a free gift that no amount of works could ever attain or maintain. (Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 4:5,Titus 3:5-7, Romans 5:15,16,18)

Ephesians 2:8-10 KJV

[8] “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: [9] Not of works, lest any man should boast. [10] For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”

I BELIEVE that Jesus is our justification, our sanctification and our reward.

I BELIEVE that believers are sealed by the Holy Spirit until the Day of Redemption (John 3:16, 5:24, 6:47, 1st Corinthians 15-1-4, Ephesians 2:8-9, 4:30)

I BELIEVE that for the believer … the possibility, potentiality, or even the very thought of perishing is impossible by the very words of our savior Jesus Christ Himself in John 10:28 … "ou mē apolōntai" (shall never perish)

“And I give unto them eternal life; and they "shall never perish" (ou mē apolōntai), neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” (John 10:28)

I BELIEVE that believing on Christ, is to see and believe the all-sufficiency of His saving grace.

I BELIEVE that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). And that All who call on the name of the Lord Jesus shall be saved (Rom. 10:13)

How is one saved? By believing the gospel. What is the proof that you're saved? That you believe the gospel. How do we base if someone else is saved? Whether or not they claim to believe the gospel.

I BELIEVE that just as the words are written in scripture, that through belief in Him … we have eternal life.

“But these are written that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.” (John 20:31)

This is my statement of faith concerning salvation.

Prayer is not always an opportunity to get things from God.. The highest level of prayer is intercession. Where the needs of others become your biggest problem.

Death Burial & Resurrection!

The strenth of every religion is on the premise of its foundation. And for us Christians, the story is not different as we base our faith on the principle and doctrine of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ of which without it, we become faithless.

1 Corinthians:15
[12] Now if Christ is preached as raised from the dead, how is it that some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead?
[13] But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised;
[14] and if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain [useless, amounting to nothing], and your faith is also vain [imaginary, unfounded, devoid of value and benefit—not based on truth].

During the earthly ministry of Jesus, he practically lived a prophetic life to the prophecies that had gone over his life by the prophets ( Isaiah, Jeremiah etc..)
His mandate was to seek and save that which was lost ( reconciliation of the soul of man to God).
Luke:19
[10] for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

The resurrection story is the most significant part of his mission on earth and a fact finding truth in human history and as proof of evidence of his salvation plan. He spoke about it and it came to pass.
John:2
[19] Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”
[20] Then the Jews replied, “It took forty-six years to build this temple, and You will raise it up in three days?”
[21] But He was speaking of the temple which was His body.
[22] So when He had risen from the dead, His disciples remembered what He had said. And they believed and trusted in and relied on the Scripture and the words that Jesus had spoken.

On the cross of calvary;
He shared his blood
¶when they pierced his side blood and water came out.
¶when he wore the crown of thorns, the blood came out of his head.
¶His body was broken

Isaiah:53
[5] But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was crushed for our wickedness [our sin, our injustice, our wrongdoing];
The punishment [required] for our well-being fell on Him,
And by His stripes (wounds) we are healed.

The blood
In God's redemption plan for mankind, God chose his only begotten son to redeem man back to himself. The narration of the lost relationship between God and man came as a result of the disobedience of Adam.
Man was created with a will that gave him the power of choice (life and death). The disobedience created a gulf between God and man. The restoration plan for that lost life was for a sacrifice to be made. And so God killed an animal in the garden and used the skin as a covering for the sin of Adam.
(Sin is just a deviation from God's ordinance, the effect affects man and not God).

Genesis:3
[21] The Lord God made tunics of [animal] skins for Adam and his wife and clothed them.
God had to represent himself in a boldly form to redeem man.

Throughout human history and genealogy God continues his redemptive plan for mankind. So he chooses people and leaders to represent him at every given time.
He starts with the children of Israel through successive leaders:Kings, Judges, Priests etc. (Abraham, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, David, etc..)

In the case of Moses, while in Egypt God gave a commandment for the use of an animal blood. Its important we understand, that God is the same but worked at different dispensation of grace. The use of animal blood was accepted by God as a form of sacrifice in the old covenant.

Leviticus:17

[11] For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement, by reason of the life [which it represents].’

Howbeit in the dispensation of grace and the new testament, God doesn't accept the blood of animals as sacrifice as some ignorantly agree with.

Hebrews:9

[13] For if the sprinkling of [ceremonially] defiled persons with the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a [burnt] heifer is sufficient for the cleansing of the body,
[14] how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal [Holy] Spirit willingly offered Himself unblemished [that is, without moral or spiritual imperfection as a sacrifice] to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works and lifeless observances to serve the ever living God?

Hebrews:10
[4] for it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.

The blood of animals only covered their sins in the old testament, but in the new testament the blood of Jesus took away our sins as if it never happened. (Hallelujah)!

Hebrews:8

[6] But as it is, Christ has acquired a [priestly] ministry which is more excellent [than the old Levitical priestly ministry], for He is the Mediator (Arbiter) of a better covenant [uniting God and man], which has been enacted and rests on better promises.

Gods Love
Thr striking part of his redemptive plan is his love to us. And so John puts it perfectly this way.
John:3
[16] “For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life.

Benefits of the blood
1. Redemption
Ephesians:1
[7] In Him we have redemption [that is, our deliverance and salvation] through His blood, [which paid the penalty for our sin and resulted in] the forgiveness and complete pardon of our sin, in accordance with the riches of His grace

2. Intercession
Hebrews:12
[24] and to Jesus, the Mediator of a new covenant [uniting God and man], and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks [of mercy], a better and nobler and more gracious message than the blood of Abel [which cried out for vengeance].

As we ponder over the death burial and resurrection of Christ, let's remember what he has done for us through his blood and grace. We are more than conquerors in Christ Jesus!

Psalm:121

[1] The Lord the Keeper of Israel.
A Song of Ascents.
I will lift up my eyes to the hills [of Jerusalem]—
From where shall my help come?

[2] My help comes from the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.

[3] He will not allow your foot to slip;
He who keeps you will not slumber.

[4] Behold, He who keeps Israel
Will neither slumber [briefly] nor sleep [soundly].

[5] The Lord is your keeper;
The Lord is your shade on your right hand.

[6] The sun will not strike you by day,
Nor the moon by night.

[7] The Lord will protect you from all evil;
He will keep your life.

[8] The Lord will guard your going out and your coming in [everything that you do]
From this time forth and forever.

1 Corinthians 2:9-16

But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.

For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.
