GA PRESBYTERY SPONSORS FIVE JY LEADERS TO MAIDEN NATIONAL CERTIFIED LEADERSHIP COURSE
The Ga Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana has sponsored five Junior Youth (JY) leaders to participate in the maiden National Junior Youth Leaders Certified Course being held at the Ramseyer Training Centre (RTC), Abetifi, in the Eastern Region.
The beneficiaries comprise three members of the Presbytery Executive Committee and two District Council Presidents, reflecting the Presbytery’s commitment to strengthening leadership and discipleship within the Junior Youth Ministry.
The sponsored leaders are Matilda Nettey, Presbytery Secretary; Mavis Adubea Amoasi, Assistant Presbytery Secretary; Benjamin Nii-Martey Quaye, Presbytery Male Organiser; Japhet Sedem Attah, Accra Central District President; and Ofori Frimpong Frank, Tema North District President.
Also participating in the programme are Mary Eddy Takyi, Haatso District President, who was sponsored by her District, and Clement Amanor of New Life Congregation in the Fafraha District, who received sponsorship from his Local Congregation.
The four-day residential programme, which commenced on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, has brought together Junior Youth leaders from 19 Presbyteries across the country for the inaugural Level One training and is expected to conclude on Saturday, August 8, 2026.
The initiative is designed to equip Junior Youth leaders with sound biblical knowledge, a deeper understanding of Presbyterian doctrine, spiritual formation, and practical leadership skills to enhance their ministry among young people.
Participants are undertaking courses in Bible Survey (Old and New Testaments), Christian Spirituality, Bible Study Methods, Introduction to Presbyterianism, leadership principles, and other essential areas of Christian ministry.
Facilitators for the course include the Director of the Ramseyer Training Centre, Rev. Gideon Puplampu; Rev. Emmanuel Preprah-Oppong; Rev. Charles Kwasi Yeboah; Rev. Dr. Yaw Boadu; and Rev. Edmond Asamoah-Yeboah.
Leaders attending the programme represent the Akuapem, Akyem Abuakwa, Asante, Asante Akyem, Asante South, Brong Ahafo, Central, Dangme-Tongu, Ga, Ga West, Kwahu, Northern, Sefwi, Sekyere, Upper, Volta, West Akyem, West Brong, and Western Presbyteries.
Delivering the welcome address on behalf of the Governing Board of the Ramseyer Training Centre, the Head of Programmes, Rev. Charles Kwasi Yeboah, urged participants to approach the training with dedication, discipline, humility, and a sincere desire for spiritual and intellectual growth.
He emphasised that effective Christian leadership is anchored on biblical truth, godly character, faithful stewardship, and total dependence on God, encouraging participants to maximise the opportunity to deepen their knowledge and enhance their service to the Church.
Throughout the programme, participants are engaging in lectures, group discussions, practical learning sessions, worship, fellowship, and personal spiritual reflection. According to the organisers, these activities are intended to deepen biblical understanding, strengthen leadership capacity, nurture Christlike character, and renew participants’ commitment to ministering to Junior Youth members.
The introduction of the Certified Course marks a significant milestone in the Presbyterian Church of Ghana’s efforts to institutionalise leadership training for its Junior Youth Ministry. The Church believes graduates of the programme will return to their Presbyteries, Districts, Congregations, and Preaching Points better equipped to disciple, mentor, and inspire the next generation of Christians.
The National Secretariat of the Junior Youth Ministry described the inaugural course as a visionary initiative that will produce spiritually grounded, biblically sound, servant-hearted, and transformational leaders who will uphold the values of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana while advancing the Gospel of Jesus Christ for generations to come.
The participants expressed profound appreciation to the Ga Presbytery Chairperson, Rev. Col. David Adoteye-Asare; the Presbytery Clerk, Rev. Isaac Quist; the Presbytery CLAN Director, Rev. Kwadwo Asamoah; and the Presbytery Session Council for their generous sponsorship and unwavering support in making their participation possible.
They pledged to apply the knowledge, leadership skills, and spiritual insights acquired during the training to strengthen the Junior Youth Ministry across the Ga Presbytery, mentor young people effectively, and contribute meaningfully to the growth and mission of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana.
