Presbyterian Minister's Children

Presbyterian Minister's Children This page is to help bring together all Presbyterian Ministers' children under one umbrella to serve as a support group and also to fellowship.

We as children of Reverend Ministers recognise that we have our own challenges and we also recognise that we are actually part of our Parents ministry. We, therefore, pledge to stand by them in both difficult and joyous moments as long as the good Lord gives us breath. We recognise the complex nature of the ministry in today’s world and we want to play our part by interceeding for them in prayers.

The PCG Ministers’ Children Fellowship aims at bringing together all of us your children – old and young, but especially, the young – to encourage one another to consciously support one another to respond competently to the rather daunting challenges of the manse and contemporary societies. We hope, in the end, to manage successfully, the great pressures that the, sometimes, unrealistic expectations of parishioners bring upon us on account of our being minsters’ children. The fellowship has the following objectives:
• Being an example to believers
• Providing both spiritual and physical support for our parents’ ministry
• Correct misconceptions people have about ministers’ children
• To establish networks to support one another in various endeavours and circumstances
• Mobilise ministers’ children for these objectives and other relevant purposes when the need arises. It is our plea to you to encourage our sisters and brothers who are not yet participating in our programmes to begin to show interest. We are convinced that in an increasingly complex world networking is an important capital to take advantage of.

Hello Child of God...
How are you doing..

*But the human tongue can be tamed by no man. It is a restless (undisciplined, irreconcilable) evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless the Lord and Father, and with it we curse men who were made in God's likeness! Out of the same mouth come forth blessing and cursing. These things, my brethren, ought not to be so. - James 3:8-10*

When God calls you - you must work...- John 9:4

Hello Child of God...

God's call is never to give you a holiday but to work in His vineyard for His glory and the Glory of His kingdom. When He calls you, He calls you into a ministry, the ministry of Reconciliation (2 Corin.5:18-20). God through Jesus Christ has Reconciled you back unto Himself and has given you this ministry so you can also reconcile people to him through the word He has given you. Your knowledge and understanding of God's word is not so you become a walk bible or have more knowledge than someone or so you can win arguments but so you can share with, Encourage others, and bringing them into His kingdom, thereby Reconciling them to God. It is true that we are all called for different assignments but just like the human body has different parts which plays different functions, they all work towards the same goal, the survival of the body. So does all the various assignments of God work towards the same goal, Reconciliation. When God calls you, you must work,
Work towards His Glory while it is still day before the night comes where no one can work. This is a Ministry God has given everyone who He has called through the Saving Grace of Christ Jesus. So if Jesus is your Lord and Savior, then you have already been given the Ministry of Reconciliation. So if you have not already started working, START...

* *You are an Ambassador of Christ, so Work as though God Himself is working through you*

When God calls you - you must Respond in the right way. - 2 Chron. 7:14.

Hello Child of God...

Whenever our phone rings, we respond somehow, either by answering it or ignoring it. And when we do answer it, we decide whether we want to continue with the call or not. And when we do continue with the call, we can either act or be genuine. The same way when God calls you, you can decide to respond by ignoring the call or respond by accepting the call. True, when God calls you, it is usually without any audible sound. It is something you feel within yourself. A conviction at the core of your being of how much you need God. I would encourage you to respond not by ignoring but by accepting It. Ignoring it comes with it's own cost, you are more likely to miss the grand entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ (2Pet. 1:11). And if you respond to God's call by accepting it, do not accept and be lukewarm, God will spit you out (Rev. 3:16). Do not accept and go back on it by ending it, for you would have been better off if you had not accepted at all (2Pet. 2:21). But rather respond by accepting genuinely and working hard to prove that you are really among those God called, then you will received of the fullness of your father and be assured of a Grand Entrance into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ (2Pet. 1:10-11). It is only after you have accepted his call, that He will equip you, empower you, and Bless you.

* *God is Faithful and will never forget the works you have done in His name, so accept His call and keep working in His vineyard*

When God calls you - Blessings are assured... - Luke 18:29-30 (Heb. 6:10)

Hello Wonderful Child of God...

To every calling there are Blessings but there are also Blessings that every called receives. God is not unjust to deal harshly with you despite your sacrifices for His work or ungrateful so as to forget all you've done for others for His sake or what He has called you to do.
To whom God calls, He gives sufficient Grace to deal with challenges and complete the calling. He also gives His Holy Spirit through whom His Power is made Perfect in your weaknesses (2 Cor. 12:9). His Spirit also prays for anyone He calls (Rom. 8:26). To whom He calls, everything works together for their Good (Rom. 8:28). To whom He calls, He protects (2 Thes. 3:3) and are also assured of eternal life (1 John 5:11). To whoever He calls, He provides their needs (Phil. 4:19). To whom He calls, He blesses them with their Heart desires (Ps. 30:4).
But also remember that God Blesses you for the sake of others
[so you can also be a Blessing unto others (Gen. 12:2)] and to whom God Blesses much is expected (Luke 12:48)..

* *God does not call you to neglect, disgrace or put you to shame or harm you but He calls you for His eternal Glory..*

When God calls you - He gives you His Holy Spirit... 1Sam. 16:13, Acts. 2

Peace be unto you Beloved in the Lord...

When God calls you, He does not leave you to be on your own but He gives you His Spirit to help in the journey ahead. His Gift to us is the Holy Spirit. In His Spirit is everything we need and it is only through His Spirit that we receive Power and are Equipped for the task at hand. God's Spirit gives us an identity as Children of God. He serves as proof of God's Presence in our lives and also as proof that He has Called us (1John 4:3). The Holy Spirit guides/leads us in all truths and will speak only the things the Father wants us to know (John 16:13). He will teach us all things and also brings us to remembrance (John 14:26). God's Holy Spirit will equip us with all we need for the call of God (1Cor.12). He helps us to stop sinning and do only things that Please God (Rom. 8:5). The Holy Spirit will give us Power to accomplish God's calling (Acts 1:9). He will be with us Forever to comfort and Encourage us (John. 14:16). We are not competent in ourselves to handle the calling of God expect by His Holy Spirit who works in us unto Perfection. One can only receive the Gift of the Holy Spirit after he/she has accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Personal Savior...

* *It is only by the Holy Spirit that one can effectively operate in his/her calling to the Glory of God and also be prepared for the Blessings of the Father*

When God calls you.... He gives you Power -Luke 10:19 (Acts 1:8)

Blessed day Child of God...

God will not call you without giving you all that you require to accomplish His calling. One of the things He gives you, is Power. Power over physical and Spiritual things. He gives you Courage to step out of your comfort zone and venture out into a whole new experience. Boldness to stand before Kings, Presidents and multitudes. Confidence to speak and not be afraid. Insight into His word, your life and concerning the call. Ability to accomplish the calling and perform miracles. And Authority over physical and demonic/Spiritual forces and not be harmed. When God called Moses, he gave Him authority to represent Him in front of Pharaoh and amongst the Israelites. Moses who ran because Pharaoh wanted to kill him for murder, now stood in front of Pharaoh and spoke with Authority. Peter who lacked courage, now stood in front of a multitude to proclaim the Good news with Conviction (Acts 2:14). He could also command cripples to walk (Acts 3:1-8). When God called Paul, He gave him the Power to cast out demons (Acts 16:18). When God calls you, He gives you His Holy Spirit and through His Holy Spirit you receive *POWER*. You can only receive the Holy Spirit after you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior..

* *Experience the Holy Spirit and Your life will never be the same*

When God calls you, He equips you... 2Cor. 3:5-6

Hello Child of God....

In order to be in a particular field of work, one has to be equipped in a special way with everything that is needed to succeed in that field. Example, a hunter needs to be equipped with his/her gun and traps, a teacher with knowledge pertaining to the field he/she teaches, and the lawyer must also be equipped with the law. No one is competent enough to carry out the responsibilities of God's calling by his/her own abilities. It does not matter how strong, talented or gifted one might be, you would still not be competent enough to succeed. So the one who is called by God needs to be equipped by God Himself with Character and Special Strength only He gives. When He called Moses to bring the Israelites out of Egypt, He equipped him with His word, power to perform miracles, authority and most importantly His Presence. (Ex. 3). When He called David to be King of Israel, He equipped him with His Spirit (1Sam.16:13). When He called the disciples, He equipped them the Holy Spirit (Acts 2). So when God calls you He equips you with His Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit proves your calling by God and without the Holy Spirit enabling you, your work would be in vain. In His Spirit, lies everything you need to Succeed in God's calling...

* *When God calls you, He gives you Power to overcome every limitation that will hinder your ability to execute His calling.*

When God calls you, your material circumstances is irrelevant... 1Cor. 1:27-29

Good day Child of God....

God's call does not depend on any human situation or circumstances. It really does not matter ones age or gender, nor one's status in life, nor their socio-economic condition nor education nor one's good deeds. Moses's status in the eyes of his people and Pharaoh was a murderer and a fugitive (Ex.2:13-15), yet it was he God called to bring Israel out of Egypt. Gideon was a non entity, his clan was the weakest (Judges 6:15-17) yet God used him to rescue Israel. Elisha's socio-economic standing was good. He was a rich farmer yet God called him to abandon all his riches to be His prophet (1kin.19:19-20). David had no training as a royal nor any training as always military person, he was just a shepherd taking care of his father's flocks yet God called him to be King of Israel (1Sam.16:10-12). Deborah's gender did not matter to God, He called her to be Israel's Judge (Judges 4). Peter's occupation didn't matter when Jesus was calling his disciples. Peter was a fisherman by profession (Matt.4:18) and uneducated (Acts4:13)yet God called Him to lead the Church. Jeremiah was very young when God called him to be His prophet (Jer. 1:6). Josiah was eight years old when God called him to lead Israel (2Kin. 22:1-2).

* *Your material circumstances is irrelevant to God's calling and so when God calls you He equips you with all you need for His calling so you can respond effectively to bring Him Glory*

When God calls you, He qualifies you... 1 Corin. 1:26-31 (Rom. 9:15-18)

Good day God's chosen one..

There is no university or institution that can qualify you for God's calling except God Himself. I am yet to come across any university or institution that can cleanse one of his/her sins, or give soo much Grace that attracts God's attention. He does not call you because you are handsome or because you have a university degrees or because you are intelligent, God calls you because He wills (Rom. 9:15, Ex. 33:19). So then [God's gifts] is not a question of human will and human efforts, but of God's mercy. [It depends not on one's own willingness nor on his/her strenuous exertions as in running a race, but on God having mercy on him/her.] - Rom. 9:16 (AMP). So the next time you begin to think too highly of yourself remember that even with your certificate, status in the society or your gender and age, you still did not qualify for God's call, it was only by His Merciful Grace through Jesus Christ that you qualified to be in His Presence...

* *When God calls you He has no regard for your material circumstances, He calls you because He wants to*
