Warning Against Apostasy!
Hebrew 6:4-8
For it is impossible, in the case of those who have tasted the heavenly gift, and have shared in the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the age to come, and then have fallen away, to restore them again to repentance, since they are crucifying once again the Son of God to their own harm and holding him up to contempt. For the land that has drunk the rain that often falls on it, and produces a crop useful to those for whose sake it is cultivated, receives a blessing from God. But if it bears thorns and thistles, it is worthless and near to being cursed, and its end is to be burned.
Beloved the saving knowledge of God is for all but the CONSCIOUS EFFORT of rebellion against God is unforgivable. A typical example is Lucifer. He was one of the arch angels before his fall. This means that Lucifer had everything to be a blessing to the kingdom of God but he made a conscious effort to rebel against God and became the adversary. This is why it is impossible for him to receive repentance.
There are some things reserved for those who have gone beyond the basic knowledge of salvation. As you grow in the Lord He gradually reveals deep and hidden things buried deep in wisdom to you. It takes Grace and the will of the Holy Spirit to give you such. The likes of Moses, Joshua, Elijah just to name a few tasted such Grace in their walk with God. They were ripe in maturity and of a good heart to humble themselves to the things of God there by becoming a blessing for many. They became altars for God to manifest His power and glory on earth. Therefore you cannot be a land of blessing only to yield curses when cultivated. You end up becoming worthless to the kingdom of God.
Just like the incident of the fig tree in Mark 11:12-14 (The next day as they were leaving Bethany, Jesus was hungry. Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to find out if it had any fruit. When he reached it, he found nothing but leaves, because it was not the season for figs. Then he said to the tree, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.”) The fig tree was withholding the blessing of bearing fruit for nourishment warranting it being cursed.
After becoming a vessel of God's divine power it is only right and appropriate to become an altar that God can still use to lift up His people. A lot of people are spiritually hungry and can't get nourished even after going to church for years because most men and women of God have refused to produce what the Spirit of God has planted in them just like the priests in the synagogue who turned the temple into a market place. Your consistent attendance to the right place of fellowship must unlock your spiritual gifts for growth and not enslave and blind you rather.
Beware after knowing good and evil because you can't play ignorant, you're made conscious of the things in the Spirit. You can't call Jesus your God only to declare through your works as a follower of the anti-Christ.
The step from such Grace before you hit rock bottom takes a CONCIOUS EFFORT and one basic element that brings you to the fall is PRIDE ( proverbs 16:18 pride goes before destruction and a haughty Spirit before a fall). The time before you make that conscious effort know that it's a Grace period for you to repent before it becomes impossible for you to receive repentance.
Let us then continue to strive to be humble and vigilant in our walk with the Lord even after tasting His power and the gift of the Holy Spirit. Let's not turn back rather let's continue to be vessels that will teach and nourish the next generation in order to advance the kingdom of God. Shalom.
