Wound The Flesh to Spiritual Muscle #(Peniel) đź’Ş

Certainly one of the strangest encounters in Genesis is the wrestling Jacob had with God at Peniel as he returned from Paddan-aram to the land of promise, the land of his fathers (Gen. 32:24–32). In the night before Jacob was to confront the enmity of his brother Esau, a Man came to Jacob and wrestled with him until dawn. Unable at last to prevail over Jacob, the Man disabled Jacob’s hip, the strength of a wrestler. Jacob, however, would not let the Man go until he had won His blessing. So the Man changed Jacob’s name, telling him he would thereafter be called Israel. When Israel then asked the Man His name, the Man did not reply him. Then Jacob recognized that he had seen the face of God in the Man with whom he had wrestled Hallelujah, and he marveled that his life had been spared. So he named the place as “Peniel,” or “the face of God” (Gen. 32:30). In the morning Jacob went forth limping, but he went forth as Israel (Gen. 32:31). It is instructive that once Jacob became weak in the flesh he . It was through this wounding that he became Israel.

Every great victory comes with a great fight or strugle, war and even temptation before Jacob's name will change to Israel he needed to pass through unfavorable situation or strugle to gain that great name other than he wouldn't have been blessed with that name...........................................so to relate Jacob's predicaments to ours it's very imperative to accept and stand firm in every challenge if we really want make an impact as young peaple and leave a legacy.....................................It's time we shift from Azuzer revival to a new erra where when we are gone our generation would be used make healthy reference...........may grace abound to us hallelujah

Nugget: Delight Yourself in the Lord

Scripture:Isaiah 61:10-11

The word delight means “to gain great pleasure, satisfaction, and happiness.” Isn’t that the kind of relationship you want with the Lord—one in which both you and He enjoy each other’s presence? Well, God also wants that kind of connection, and our part in helping it develop is through commitment, trust, and patience.

A believer must commit his or her ways to God. This means we invite Him to examine our desires and plans and alter whatever does not fit His purpose or plan for our life.

A believer must trust God. Who is more worthy of our faith than the Father, who gave Jesus Christ to save undeserving sinners? The One who would not spare His only Son will certainly provide all that His children need (Romans 8:32).

A believer must rest in God. When we fret, we’re neither committing ourselves to the Lord nor trusting in Him. Waiting on God is rarely easy, but He alone knows when circumstances and timing are aligned with His will.

Enjoying our relationship with the Lord requires effort, but it is a labor of love—because we were made to find joy in God’s presence. The greatest pleasure we can experience is to walk hand in hand with our Father.

Prayer: Lord I thank you for the joy i have in you

Nugget: When the Grace Period Ends

Scripture: Titus 2:11-14
It’s a good thing our local library gives a grace period before it starts charging for overdue books.
You can recall that JHS and SHS time, you go for book , and sometimes we forget to get them back on time.
grace period is given and you haven't returned it,you would have to pay the fine and in that period you can't bargain anymore , once the grace period ends, the full penalty is due.

According to the Bible, we live in the age of grace. God is withholding His judgment because He does not want anyone to perish. But someday the period of grace will suddenly be over and it will be time to “pay the fine” for the wages of sin.

For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works. Declare these things; exhort and rebuke with all authority. Let no one disregard you.

During this age of grace, we have to acknowledge our sinfulness to God and put our faith in Jesus Christ, who has already taken the complete penalty on Himself. But if we die without receiving Christ as Savior, or if He returns and we’ve rejected Him, the “grace period” will be over and we will be judged for our sin.
Prayer: Let's asked Jesus Christ(God) to forgive our sins and to be our Savior? If not, we don’t have to wait. No one knows when the grace period will end.

Nugget: Tell these Stones to Become Bread
SCRIPTURE: MATTHEW 4:1-11

“The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”
Matthew 4:3
Are you ever tempted to take advantage of a situation for your own benefit?

While Jesus was being tempted, he quoted from the Scriptures to show that we do not “live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God”
No matter which way people fell short in their lives, Jesus showed the perfect way. For example, even after the Israelites were well fed and satisfied, they became proud and forgot that it was God who had fed them. But Jesus even when he was tempted to make bread out of stones showed restraint and humility, and he explained that God’s Word is the ultimate food.

Moses had urged God’s people to remember how God rescued them from many precarious situations, and yet they soon forgot about God’s saving acts. But Jesus did not forget those lessons, and he refused to put God to the test. Why should he dishonor God by acting as if God should prove himself again and again?

Moses also warned the people not to think too highly of their wealth and power or to serve other gods, but they failed at that too. Jesus, however, would worship and serve no one but the one true God.
Jesus showed us how to obey and honor God. When we live by “every word that comes from the mouth of God,” we are more able to resist temptations.

Lord Jesus, you are perfect in all of your ways.
Prayer: may we trust God to guide us, rescue us, and provide for all of our needs. Amen

Nugget: Living Our Faith

Scripture: 1John 5:4-5
For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

When you hear the word “faith,” what do you think of?Maybe a better question is, “Who do you think of?” As we look back on our lives, we are probably able to recall particular people who exemplified faith for us. They’re the kind of people who inspire us to have a closer walk with God.
This week are celebrating children ministry and as part of the celebration, yesterday was a day set to talk about how children started nationwide and SLWC as local assembly then, and impact it has had on the children's ministry in SLWC....... and it was soo refreshing because those kids have grown now and they are responsible adult......a floor was open some to share the impact they've had growing from children ministry and the testimonies were great and upon listening to them I realize one thing............. that's they were inspired by what they were taught (Faith) and that is what has kept them till now. There are number of people who have had similar experience and one is Harvey Kiekover.

In July, A preacher and missionary teacher Harvey Kiekover reflects on his experiences as a missionary teacher in Nigeria, as a church pastor in the United States, and later as a nursing home chaplain. The people he writes about are ordinary people whose faith has encouraged him in his faith walk. May these stories encourage you as well!

Harvey Kiekover grew up on a Michigan farm and studied to go into pastoral ministry. He served as a teacher in Nigeria and as a pastor and chaplain in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Prayer:As you read the Today 's devotions this , may you be refreshed, refocused, and renewed in God’s Word!

Nuggets: Having Faith in Difficult Times
Scripture:Ephesians 2: 8-9
“For grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is a gift from God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.” – Ephesians 2: 8-9
As we go through our daily lives, each one of us experiences difficult situations. A lot of the times when we go through pain or suffering, we are surprised that these situations find a way into our lives and forget that God has told us that we will experience hardships. We are given the gift of faith from Him and are taught to use this valuable fruit of the Spirit, but a lot of the times we do not. In difficult or confusing times, we are quick to worry about them instead of having faith.
The grace of God has given us the gift of faith, not because we deserve it, but as a result of the everlasting goodness of His works. It is important to also know that this gift we have been given is not in exchange for us accomplishing good works. Appreciation for this gift should fill our hearts with humility knowing we've been given something we could never achieve on our own hallelujah.

BEHOLD THE MAN!"
It was Pilate's last appeal. He hoped that the spectacle of Jesus wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe would so move the people to pity, that they would cry out for His release. But the appeal was in vain.
While the Holy Sufferer stands before us, we may think of Him as He appeared that moment. "Behold the man!" Recall His life. It had been beautiful in its sinlessness and in its revealings of God. In His trial, His enemies had sought to find some flaw in Him—but they could find nothing. Pilate said, "I bring Him forth to you, that you may know that I find no fault in Him." Witnesses could have been gathered from all over the land to testify to His kindness, His thoughtfulness, His mercy, His love—but not one could they find anywhere to testify to any wrong He had ever done, any injustice, any injury. He had been the Friend of the poor, the Comforter of sorrow, the Helper of the weak.
As He stands before us now, He appears as the man of sorrows. His back has been torn by the cruel scourge. A crown of thorns is around His brow, as if He were a king. And truly He was a king, and He never was more kingly than in that hour.
He was kingly in His bearing. He made no plea in His own defense. He was silent to all insults, and when He spoke, it was with serene composure. Never was man more kingly.
He was kingly, too, in His love. There had not been a shade of bitterness in His heart, under all the cruelties and sufferings He had endured. He had come to show this world the love of God, and His gentleness had not once failed in all those terrible hours. He set in motion in this world's life tides of love which have been flowing over all lands, slowly changing cruelty into kindness, bitterness into sweetness, and making all things new.
He was kingly also in His suffering. His was a crown of sorrow, for He was the Redeemer of sinners. Thorns were the fruit of sin, and He took our curse upon Him—that we might receive a crown of life. He was subjected to shame in the eyes of the world—that we might be welcomed to glory. Never was He more kingly, than He was on that dreadful, yet glorious day.

Nugget: The Joseph Effect
Scripture: Genesis 39:5

From the time that he made him overseer in his house and over all that he had the LORD blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake; the blessing of the LORD was on all that he had, in house and field.
Genesis 39:5 ESV
Today Joseph will be our character study, may be we have been in a job we hated. Maybe you wake every morning with a strong feeling of dread as your alarm goes off, waking you for your “wonderful” job.

Joseph in the Bible can be a great example for those of us who live that way every day.

His brothers were jealous of him and decided to kill him, but then changed their minds and sold him into slavery.
As we read Joseph’s story we find that God had placed him in places and situations for a purpose; even if that purpose was not immediately clear. But in the end, Joseph was the King of Egypt’s right hand man!

He even saved the lives of his family that had once tried to kill him.

While God may providentially place us in a certain vocation or situation, it still doesn’t make us enjoy our lot any more. Joseph’s story teaches us is that we can ask God to bless the work we are putting our hands to, even if we don’t necessarily like it; for the “Lord blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake.”

Just imagine the witness we as Christians would have on our employer if our efforts were blessed. Our attitude would also change as we went to work and as we remembered that whatever we do, we ought to “work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men hallelujah ” (Colossians 3:23).

Prayer: Let's pray and ask God to bless our work /academics for his Glory, and help us with our attitude this week.

Nugget: One Habit That Will Change Everything

Scripture: Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law.
Psalm 119:18 ESV

When you open up the Bible, what do you expect to find?
If we’re like David, we expect “wondrous things.” And he only had a small portion of the Bible God’s given us today!

Even if we only read a single verse, we are hearing from God himself. And we have the chance to “behold wondrous things” in his word.
I guess from now on, you will never let a single day pass without reading at least one verse.I hope you can do that,
Then read two… Three… Four… And before you know it, you’re reading entire chapters it will be wooooooow 👌🤣

This tiny habit will snowball and change our life. Will you do this?, congratulations in advance
Prayer: Pray for open eyes to behold wondrous things from God’s word — and commit to reading at least one verse every day for the rest of your life.
