Hello Friends ,

What do you need to do to live a life of favor? In Deuteronomy 30:15-20 the Lord describes the clear choice He sets before each of us: “See, I have set before you today life and prosperity, and death and adversity; in that I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in His ways and to keep His commandments and His statutes and His judgments, that you may live and multiply, and that the LORD your God may bless you in the land where you are entering to possess it.”

Good morning brethren

Hello Friends ,

Many people today are in a deep financial pit. Debts have piled up, and they find themselves needing a huge miracle from God. Often the situation looks hopeless, and it’s hard to believe that a new beginning is possible.

Second Kings 4 tells the amazing story of a widow who found herself in exactly this predicament. With her husband gone, it was hard to make ends meet. The situation had gotten so bad that she told the prophet Elisha in 2 Kings 4:1, “The creditor is coming to take my two sons to be his slaves.” But dear friend, financial slavery is not God’s will for you! He has called you to be His beloved child, and His kids aren’t meant to be slaves of anyone!

GOOD MORNING MY LOVELY PEOPLE

THEME: HOW?

“How lonely sits the city that once had many people! She has become like a widow who was once great among the nations! She who was a princess among the provinces has become a forced laborer … Judah has gone into exile.” – Lamentations 1:1, 3 NASB

The Hebrew title of the book of Lamentations is a word that means how. This same word begins its first, second, and fourth chapters. Even as Jeremiah, the author of this book, reflected on the plight of his people, his overriding question remained, “How did this happen?”

Jerusalem had been full of people but now sat lonely. Israel was “once great among the nations” but had become nothing but a “forced laborer” and “like a widow.” How had a people who had been chosen by God and given all His promises found themselves so forsaken?

God reminded Jeremiah, “the LORD is righteous,” but His people had “rebelled against His command” (v. 18). They turned their back on God. Consequently, they experienced rejection. He was no longer there to rescue them.

Yet God remained merciful. If they repented and confessed their sins, He was ready to forgive and restore them. But they still had to experience the consequences of their decisions and reap what they had sown.

You may wonder at times what has happened to you and ask why. Do you wonder how you have come to a particular point? Have things happened that you don’t understand?

If you find yourself asking how or why, commit your questions to God. Submit yourself to Him anew and commit your life to serving Him. Let Him reveal His truth to you and guide you.

PRAYER 🙏

Father, help me to be in the center of Your will. Guide me. Teach me Your ways. I commit my life to You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

ARE YOU READY FOR CHRIST??

LAST WORDS

"Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they do. And they divided his garments and cast lots." – Luke 23:34

Heinrich Schütz is considered a prominent German composer of the 17th century. His life spanned an era of instability in Central Europe with wars, economic hardship, and religious division. Synthesizing styles, he wrote music that transcended the times and continues to speak to us.

While nations struggled with the Thirty Years’ War, Schütz focused on Jesus’ death on the cross. The result was one of his greatest works, “The Seven Words of Our Dear Redeemer and Savior Jesus Christ that He Spoke on the Holy Cross.” He wrote on the score, “If you love the world, then you are dead. But if you die in His red wounds, then He lives in your heart.”

Schütz understood the significance of the words Jesus spoke from the cross. Over the centuries, many have tried to capture the essence of those words. Jesus’ final words are timeless, words of forgiveness, words about eternal life: “Today shalt thou be with me in paradise” (Luke 23:43). They’re words of compassion, like the words Jesus spoke to His mother: “Woman, behold, thy son!” (John 19:26-27).

Jesus’ words expressed how alone He felt: “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?” (Matthew 27:46). His words remind us of His humanity: “I thirst” (John 19:28). He spoke words of completion: “It is finished” (John 19:30) and words of surrender: “Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit” (Luke 23:46).

Words can change our lives! Ponder them.

PRAYER

Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for dying on the cross. Speak to me! Thank You that the work is finished. In Your Name, Amen.

HAPPY PALM SUNDAY

THEME: JESUS PERSPECTIVE

DAILY LIGHT DEVOTIONAL

CLIFFORD BISHOP

"They took the branches of the palm trees and went out to meet Him, and began shouting, 'Hosanna! Blessed is He Who comes in the Name of the Lord.' […] There were some Greeks among those who were going up to worship. […] 'Sir, we wish to see Jesus.'" – John 12:13, 20-21 NASB

The crowds were eager to see Jesus and shout His praises! Having raised Lazarus from the dead, He was entering Jerusalem in a moment of triumph, a time when many were celebrating. But Jesus had a unique perspective. He understood what really was taking place and what was important.

During the festivities, He was approached by some Greeks who had their own ideas about what Jesus represented. But Jesus did not sound like a conqueror or king. He did not speak about power or glory. Instead, He spoke about being a servant. Instead of talking about life, He talked about death (vs. 24-26).

Jesus’ message was simple: He had committed to do the will of the Father and complete His work even if it meant death. If these Greeks wanted to bear much fruit, they, too, needed to commit everything to serve God. They needed to obey Him without reservation, no matter the cost. They, too, needed to be servants and realize that God rewards those who seek first His Kingdom.

Palm Sunday reminds us of the importance of praising Jesus. But it also reminds us of the importance of committing everything to follow Him. We are not to worry about popularity but are to seek first the Kingdom of God and be a servant.

Focus on serving Jesus. Let praise and worship fill your lips. And make your life a living sacrifice, pleasing to Him.

PRAYER

Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for being my example. I commit my life to You. I delight to serve You. In Your Name, Amen.

Pray in Difficult Times

"Do not be silent! For they have opened a wicked and deceitful mouth against me; they have spoken against me with a lying tongue. They have also surrounded me with words of hatred … but I am in prayer." – Psalm 109:1-4 NASB

David wrote this psalm in the middle of intense times. He felt discouraged, vulnerable, and taken for granted. He had been deceived. Others had spoken words of hatred and fought against him “without cause” (v. 3). He was motivated by love, but they “repaid me evil for good and hatred for my love” (v. 5).

David poured out his heart to God and realized that his only hope was in Him. He knew that his life was “passing like a shadow when it lengthens” (v. 23). His knees were weak from fasting. He knew others might “curse” him, but God would “bless” him (v. 28). David looked forward to the time when God would defend him and make everything right.

No matter what others might say or do, he was “in prayer.” He determined to “continue to pray” (CSB). He would seek God in every situation and call out to Him.

You can be honest with God. Pour out your heart about your feelings, the problems you face, and the things others have done and said. You, too, can look forward to a time when God sets things right. You can cry out to God, seek His help, and depend on His lovingkindness.

Remember to spend time in prayer, communing with God. In every situation in life, determine to “continue to pray” (v. 4). Seek God with your whole heart. Call out to Him, confident that He will hear you.

Prayer
Father, I commit these problems I am facing to You: ________. I seek Your help. I depend upon You for vindication. In Jesus’ name, amen.
