Hebrews 4:16 KJV
_Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need._
Before this verse, the author of Hebrews made the point that Christ, as our high priest, our representative before God, is so perfect that we can boldly approach God even when we have failed. In the Old Testament, the people were accepted on account of the holiness of the High Priest. There’s no High Priest that gets more perfect than Jesus. If Jesus is our High Priest, we can be assured of acceptance before the Father. Scripture doesn’t just ask us to approach the throne. It asks us to be bold about it. Doing so acknowledges the power and weight of Christ’s work. It shows that Christ’s work was so efficacious that the worst of men can approach the throne and be transformed and forgiven, that the weakest of men may receive mercy and help in times of need. Don’t be afraid, God himself summons us, approach his throne on account of Jesus for there lies your salvation.
