James 1:2-3 ESV
_Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness._
Early Christians are reported to have been resolute in the face of trials. Paul confidently went to Jerusalem against all warning, knowing he was likely to be imprisoned and eventually killed. People rejoiced even knowing they were to be thrown to lions. A part of their confidence was due to their knowledge of the relevance of trials to their faith. Trials refine us and make bare the true state of our hearts towards God. They prune our incentives until we realize that God alone ultimately matters.
An awareness of the value of trials to the Christian life makes it easier for believers to withstand them. You realize that your trials are not gratuitous but have a purpose, to edify you, to make you stronger, and to give you the privilege of sharing in the fellowship of Christ’s suffering.

Hebrews 4:16 KJV
_Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need._

Before this verse, the author of Hebrews made the point that Christ, as our high priest, our representative before God, is so perfect that we can boldly approach God even when we have failed. In the Old Testament, the people were accepted on account of the holiness of the High Priest. There’s no High Priest that gets more perfect than Jesus. If Jesus is our High Priest, we can be assured of acceptance before the Father. Scripture doesn’t just ask us to approach the throne. It asks us to be bold about it. Doing so acknowledges the power and weight of Christ’s work. It shows that Christ’s work was so efficacious that the worst of men can approach the throne and be transformed and forgiven, that the weakest of men may receive mercy and help in times of need. Don’t be afraid, God himself summons us, approach his throne on account of Jesus for there lies your salvation.

Matthew 7:7 ESV
_Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you._

Most people frantically search for human solutions first whenever they have problems. They barely go to God until they do not have a choice but to go to him, “just in case he hears.” That’s no different from how atheists relate with God. God expects us to knock on his door when we need help. That is the entire point of prayer. It is a form of humility where we recognise that we do not know enough and we do not have enough. In the same chapter, Jesus contrasts the heart of the father with earthly parents who provide for their children regardless of the wicked state of their hearts. Besides that, he assures us, that if we do ask, we will receive. It isn’t a probability, its an assurance.
Let’s endeavour to see God as the providential Father he is

“For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.””
‭‭Romans‬ ‭1‬:‭17‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Paul describes what the gospel does. In the gospel, the righteousness of God is « revealed, » in one sense, in that it is given to human beings by their faith in Christ. In other words, God declares human beings to be righteous in His eyes because of their faith. The words « from faith to faith » likely mean that this declaration of people being righteous is by faith from first to last, from start to finish.

Paul put the same idea this way in Philippians 3:8–9: ‘’that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith.’’

+Shine Your Light

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.
‭‭John‬ ‭1‬:‭5‬ ‭NLT‬‬

We are the light of the world and this dark world is hungry for our light. Now more than ever we need to shine our light. Whatever gift, whatever opportunity, whatever talent, whatever resource that the Lord has given you in these times, you need to make use of it very well in order to bring many more souls to Christ through your light.

+The Purpose of Trials
These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world. You love him even though you have never seen him. Though you do not see him now, you trust him; and you rejoice with a glorious, inexpressible joy.
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭1‬:‭7‬-‭8‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Just as gold is passed through fire to get rid of dross and alloy, so is our faith passed through trials and tribulations to get rid of the dross of our faith. Hypocrisy, self-confidence, pride amongst others do not survive the flames of trials like persecution, affliction and troubles. It’s hard to be a hypocrite when you are suffering. God uses the troubles of this life to make our faith stronger in Him. He uses trials like a spiritual hammer to chisel away from our lives everything that does not look like Jesus.
The result? You love Jesus more, you have more faith in Him and you enjoy Him.
