YOU FLOCK, EAT FROM THE MANGER AND BE SAVED.
Every living organism needs nutrients and minerals from food and water to survive.
In like manner, the sheep confined in a sheep pen would eventually die when denied of these essential nutrients.
Luke 2:7, which reads, βAnd she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths and laid Him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.β
A manger is a feeding trough for animals, typically made of wood or stone.
Therefore the survival of the sheep is dependent on access and feeding. Inaccess to the manger is simply death.
From the scripture above, a very significant person was born in a manger meant for the consumption of all sheep confined in this world. Our lives, nourishment and survival in eternity is dependent on feeding from the content of the manger which is JESUS CHRIST.
He was born into a humble background so that all may get access to him by accepting Him, believing in Him and be saved through His Name.
The Symbolism and Significance of the manger and its content, Jesus Christ, included :
New Life in Christ:
The manger is often associated with new life and renewal, as it represents the birth of Jesus and the hope of salvation. It is this salvation that makes us born again through forgiveness of our sins and acceptance of God's saving grace.
Humility:
The manger represents the humble birthplace of Jesus, emphasizing the importance of humility and simplicity.
Nourishment:
The manger provides sustenance for animals, symbolizing the nourishment and care that God provides for humanity. Our continual relationship with Christ and feeding on His word will nourish our souls into maturity and prepare us for His second coming.
As we celebrate Christmas today, may the joy of receiving Christ as a gift from God bring us peace, hope, new life and fulfillment.
