“STAY CLOSE”
“Stay Close”
SCRIPTURE FOR THE DAY:
Isaiah 59:1-4
Isa 59:1 -2 Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear
TODAY’S MESSAGE
From our text today, we see Prophet Isaiah giving reasons for God withdrawing His presence from His people; he said their iniquities had separated them from their God and their sins had hidden His face from them. God does not change in His love towards man and his ability to save; it is sin and disobedience which draw man away from Him, and make it seem that He is very far away from man. If we stay close to God He will always be accessible to us. When we continue to live in sin we draw away spiritually from God and we invariably tell Him that we can live without Him. In His loving nature, God always wants to draw close to man, therefore, it has always been man who bring about separation through disobedience and sin. God’s unquestionable love for man has been demonstrated by Him through generations and culminated in the coming of Christ (John 3:16). We must however know that by His Holy nature, He cannot dwell in sin or dirt, Ps 145:17 reads “The LORD is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works.” Do you need God? Do you want to hear his voice when you call? James gives us the antidote, he says “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you…” - Jas 4:8. How do you do that? To turn away from iniquities and stay out of sin; for your proximity to God largely depends on your reverence for His person and His word. As you go about your daily activities today, remember that if you stay close to Him He will be close to you, and when you call on Him he will answer. Blessed day!
Prayer
Father in Heaven, I thank you for loving me. I know I cannot survive without you; I ask, please give me the grace to stay away from sin today so I can stay close to you. In the name of Jesus, Amen!
Punchline
“Your proximity to God largely depends on your reverence for His person and His word.”
