Message: Blessed Are Those Who Believe Without Seeing
Text: John 20:29
Thomas, one of the disciples of Jesus, doubted the resurrection until he saw Jesus with his own eyes. And in John 20:29a, Jesus said to him:
“Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed.”
But then Jesus reveals something deeper something greater for us: “Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” (John 20:29b)
Church, we are in a better position. We have not seen Jesus physically, yet we believe. And according to His Word, that belief attracts a special blessing.
To be blessed is to live in a state of divine favor. It means enjoying God’s grace, His protection, and His care even without physical evidence.
Faith is the foundation of this walk. The Bible tells us in Hebrews 11:1: “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
Faith is not based on sight, it is based on trust in God’s Word and His testimonies.
There is a special kind of blessing reserved for those who believe without tangible proof, those who believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
So let us not behave like Thomas.
Let us build a faith that trusts God completely. When we trust the Word of God fully, we begin to see results. We begin to experience His power in ways that go beyond human understanding.
Consider Abraham and Sarah. In their old age, they gave birth not because it was possible by human standards, but to show that nothing is impossible with God. (Genesis 21:1–3). All God requires from us is trust.
As Christians, we must believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus. The resurrection is the foundation of our faith, without it, there is no Christianity. Do not wait to see before you believe.
When you wake up each day, thank God. Praise Him. Worship Him. Even when circumstances are difficult, let your faith rise. Even when answers delay, keep giving thanks because gratitude is proof that you still trust God.
The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:7: “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” That is the Christian journey. God honored the faith of the three Hebrew boys; Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego because they declared:
“If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us… But even if He does not, we will not serve your gods.” (Daniel 3:17–18). That is unwavering faith.
Do not be physically present in church but spiritually absent. Engage your spirit. Open your heart. Enjoy God’s grace, His protection, and His care. Do not operate in the “Thomas system”; where you must see before you believe.
Instead, hold on to the Word of God.
Hebrews 4:16 says: “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” Because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, we now have access to God. So come boldly. Believe fully. Trust completely.
Prayer has no side effects but doubt can limit what God wants to do in your life. Believe every Word of God. And remember:
Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed. Amen
