ENEMIES OF DEVELOPMENT AND HOW TO OVERCOME THEM || LUNCHBOX MONDAY 5TH OCTOBER 2026

INTRODUCTION:
- Difference between the “Obstacles” and “Enemies” of development.
- There are internal and the external enemies of development.
- Internal enemies from yourself and the external from outside.
- Let’s consider the external ones.

- Nehemiah, a cupbearer, had a position of great trust as advisor to the king and had the responsibility of keeping the king from being poisoned.
- While Nehemiah no doubt enjoyed the luxury of the palace, his heart was in Jerusalem.

Nehemiah, in the construction of the walls of Jerusalem, had external enemies who fought against him.

GENERAL THEME: FRIENDSHIP (IV)

THEME: LESSONS FROM GOOD FRIENDSHIPS (3)

INTRODUCTION:
The Bible talks about good and bad friends.

— Always be reminded of what the Scripture has said about the righteous and choosing of friends.

— “The righteous should choose friends carefully, for the way of the wicked leads them astray” (Proverbs 12:26).

— Thus, even the righteous are in danger if they consort with evil companions.

Examples and lessons from good friendships:

3. The Lord Jesus And His Disciples
— John 15:15

a. Good friends don’t lord themselves over others.
— John15:15a
— Ephesians 5:22 — Submission can never be required by one human being of another; it can only be given on the basis of trust, that is, to believe God’s Word and to learn to grow in relationship.

b. Good friends are always open or transparent to each other.
— John 15:15b.

c. Good friends share good news among themselves.
— They share knowledge
— John 15:15c; Matthew 13:10, 11.

PRAYER POINTS
1. Let us thank God for a successful Fire Convention and for bringing us safely to a new month.

2. Pray that the Lord will give us humble and teachable hearts in our friendships and relationships.

3. Pray that we will not hide things from the godly friends God has placed in our lives but rather be honest, transparent and open with them.

4. Stand on Matthew 13:10–11 and pray that whenever we gather as friends, God will give us wisdom, understanding and knowledge to share with one another.

5. Commit the new month into the hands of Lord. Pray for His protection, leadership and blessings.

6. As we approach the end of the year, let us pray for God’s protection over our leaders and the people of our nation.

THEME: THE PERMANENT PERFECT WORSHIP
Text: Isaiah 6:2

INTRODUCTION:
- The perfect way to worship God.

- The way you weigh God, either keeps Him away from you, or keeps you away from Him.

- Worship is the only thing that God needs from man.

- Man was created to worship God, his creator.

- Worship draws the big line between God the creator and His creation.

- The seraphim are the angelic beings of the highest status.

- Their character and activities define the perfect worship.

- Their activities with their six wings demonstrate how perfect their worship is before God.

1. REVERENCE FOR GOD
- Two wings covering their faces
(Out of respect for God’s glory)
- Deep feelings of respect, love, awe and honor towards God.

Reverence to God is:
a) Acknowledging the Holiness of God
• Acts that acknowledge the Holiness of God.

i. Refusing to sin (avoiding sin)
Genesis 39:9; Psalm 51:4

ii. Righteous Living (refusing to defile yourself)
Daniel 1:8

b) Acknowledging the Glory of God
• Paying obeisance to God
Exodus 3:4, 5; Revelation 19:10; Isaiah 42:8
• It’s only God who deserves worship from us.
• Learn not to worship any other creature e.g. Angels, man, systems, traditions, religion, etc.

Judges 6:13-16 (NKJV)

INTRODUCTION:
- The weapons for the success of your life are always with you.

- There is something very powerful and important in your life which will help you to become victorious in life.

- You carry a great treasure.

- Treasure is a valuable thing.

- Allow the Holy Spirit to reactivate the strength in you to bring out the treasure dwelling in you.

TO BE ABLE TO ACHIEVE SUCCESS WITH WHAT YOU HAVE, YOU SHOULD:
1. LOOK NOT AT YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES (SITUATIONS)
Judges 6:13, 15; Exodus 4:10

- Don’t look at your weaknesses to discourage yourself.

2. LEARN TO RELY ON THE STRENGTH OF THE LORD
Judges 6:14; 1 Samuel 17:45; Philippians 4:13

3. LET HIS PROMISE OF HIS DIVINE PRESENCE BE WITH YOU.
Judges 6:16; Exodus 33:14; Joshua 1:5

- Always remember that His presence will continue with you to the end so you are not alone.

THE PROMISES OF THE DIVINE POWER

INTRODUCTION:

Don’t Move Without Power.

- The Divine Power or Supernatural Power is the vehicle that carries Christians successful to their ordained destinations.
- You cannot succeed without the divine power.
The Lord has promised His people to empower them to help them succeed in their lives’ journeys.
- As a promise from God, the conditions for its fulfillment are to believe and accept.

THE PROMISE OF:
1. THE POWER TO BECOME A CHILD OF GOD
John 1:12 (NKJV)

- To become a child of God is positional.

- You can lose it.

2. THE POWER TO OVERCOME THE ENEMY
Luke 10:19 (NKJV)

- Serpents and scorpions are spiritual enemies and demonic powers over which the Lord Jesus has given His followers power.

3. THE POWER TO CONTROL
Matthew 16:19 (NKJV)

4. THE POWER FOR THE MINISTRY OF CHRIST
Acts 1:8; Luke 24:49
