FAMILY DEVOTION
(August week five – 30/08/2026)
One hour between 6:00pm – 8:00pm

TEXT: MATTHEW 26:69-75
GENERAL THEME: I KNOW NOT THE MAN - DENIAL

THEME: THE GREAT RESTORATION

INTRODUCTION:
Since Peter stumbled as he did, we can be glad that he reacted the way he did once it was laid before him.

He could have hardened his heart, and in cold indifference excused himself, or just gone off his own way.

Many have done exactly that once their sin was brought to their attention.

Remembering the words of his Master and crushed with guilt of sin, he obviously repented, because the rest of his life reflects that repentance.

1. HE TRULY REPENTED
— 2 Corinthians 7:10.

— Godly sorrow leads to genuine repentance which bears the required fruit of salvation.

— But a more penitent man cannot be found in Scripture than Peter in this pathetic scene of weeping bitterly.

2. HE TURNED AND REJOINED HIS FELLOWSHIP IN MINISTRY
— Acts 2:36.
— He recovered and went back to the brethren to continue the ministry.

Restoration is repenting from sin and turning to former good deeds.

Returning from the works of unrighteousness to do the works of righteousness.

Note that repentance from sin without turning to righteousness is not godly and is incomplete.

PRAYER POINTS
1. Thank God for reminding you through this study of what genuine repentance and true restoration mean.

2. Go before the Lord with a genuinely repentant heart. Ask Him for forgiveness for any actions, attitudes, or decisions that may have demonstrated a denial of Him or His will.

3. Ask the Lord to restore you. Pray that He will renew your fellowship with Him and draw you back into a deeper and closer relationship with Him after any moments of denial.

4. Thank God for His faithfulness in bringing us safely and successfully to the end of the eighth month. Give Him all glory for His presence, protection and provision.

5. Let us pray for the restoration and peace of our nation. Ask God to heal our land, bring peace among our people, guide our leaders, and establish righteousness and unity throughout the nation.
