The BIBLE/The Principle of Growth
The Bible is God's unique revelation to man and is the only trustworthy standard for our faith and practice. The Bible revels to us God's Son Jesus. The more you read the Bible the more you will know about God and how to live your life in this world.
The Scriptures came to us as God directed special men to write, directed by the Holy Spirit. Men recorded the Bible over a period of 1,600 years. The books of the Bible were written by about 40 different writers.
The Bible is not a jumble collection of myths, fables, and visions. The Bible is a love letter from God to you. This love letter was given to you to show that He loves us through His Son Jesus. As a new Christian it is important for you to read how God loves you.
The first book of the Bible you should read is the book of 1st John. Get started today reading through this book today. Read slowly to see the depth of Love Jesus has for you.
A new Christian needs to read the Bible on regular schedule. As you read the Bible you will find yourself falling deeper and deeper in love with Jesus for paying your sin debt on the cross.
You need to read the Bible so you may grow your new life. 1 Peter 2:2 says as newborn babies, desire the precious milk of the Word that you may grow by it: A new born baby feeds on its mother's milk and begins to grow. A newborn Christian is to feed on the Bible or the milk of the word for spiritual growth. The more you read the Bible the more you will grow.
As a new Christian you are expected to grow. You should have a great desire to know more about Jesus. The purpose of the desire to read the Bible is to have a greater a growing knowledge about Jesus so you may become more like Him. As you read the Bible you will develop a greater desire to please Him in all that you say and do. The objective of a new Christian is to "grow up" in Christ and become a growing and continually maturing follower of Jesus Christ.
Not only do you grow by reading the Bible but you grow by attending church. Attending church regularly is extremely important to your growth as a new Christian.
In Church you can hear the word of God in order to encourage and equip you for the work which God has given to you to do. You will also experience fellowship of other Christians and can share your blessing, burdens and struggles with others who are struggling with the same problems you are.
If you are going to have a strong and growing life in Jesus you MUST read your Bible on a daily schedule. You Must attend church on a regular schedule and you MUST have friends who are Christians in there walk and talk.
