The Unreached Of the day
Teli (Hindu traditions) in India
pronounced: TEL-ee
Traditionally the Teli people extracted cooking oil, a product everyone needs in India. Since then, oil extraction has become more automated, so they have moved into owning and running small village grocery stores, while others are now merchants. They have enjoyed upward socio-economic mobility.
Ministry Obstacles: The perception of Christianity as an invading influence that breaks up families and promotes many social problems is a serious obstacle to Teli families and communities humbly accepting God's blessing for their families.
Outreach Ideas: Someone could help begin discovery Bible studies for Teli families and communities during their spare time and slow working hours.
Scripture Focus: "Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean; remove the evil of your deeds from before my eyes; cease to do evil, learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow’s cause."
- Isaiah 1:16-17
Prayer Focus Pray for this people group to surrender unconditionally to the Lord of lords. There are a few followers of Christ among the Teli. Pray that they would be fruitful and effective in sharing God's word and blessing to strengthen their own families and spread God's blessing to other Teli households. Pray for a spiritual hunger among the Teli that would lead them to the cross. Pray that a strong movement to Jesus would bring entire Teli families and communities into a rich experience of God's blessing.
