Fivefold Office: 5
Rev. Robert Ampiah-Kwofi

All the fivefold offices require a divine calling and enablement.
Paul did not think that by himself he could be able to be a minister of Christ.
2 Corinthians 3.5-6 NKJV
“Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God, who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.”

In the Old Testament men were appointed by God to offer spiritual services on behalf of other men.
Hebrews 5:1 NKJV
“For every high priest taken from among men is appointed for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins.”

Under the Old Testament nobody presumed to appoint himself a priest of God.
Hebrews 5:6 NKJV
“And no man takes this honor to himself, but he who is called by God, just as Aaron was.”

It is Almighty God who calls men and equips them to minister in spite of their past background.
1 Timothy 1:15-16 Nkjv
“And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord who has enabled me, because He counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry, although I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man; but I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.”

Divine callings are not by the will of men neither is it a reward for hard work but by God’s mercy.
Romans 9:15-16 NKJV
“For He says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whomever I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whomever I will have compassion.” So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy.”

May the mercies and kindness of our God be abundantly on you. May God see fit to position you in your high places, In Jesus name.

Fivefold Office: 4
Rev. Robert Ampiah-Kwofi

Of all the fivefold offices the last one to be named in the Scriptures is the Apostle.
All the other four offices are named or referred to in the Old Testament for example the office of Pastor is mentioned in the book of Jeremiah.
Jeremiah 3:15 KJV
“And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.”

Evangelists are referenced in the book of Isaiah.
Isaiah 52:7 KJV
“How beautiful upon the mountains
Are the feet of him who brings good news, who proclaims peace,
Who brings glad tidings of good things, who proclaims salvation,
Who says to Zion, “Your God reigns!”

God promised His people that their eyes would see their teachers.
Isaiah 30:20-21 NKJV
“And though the Lord gives you
The bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet your teachers will not be moved into a corner anymore, but your eyes shall see your teachers. Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying,
“This is the way, walk in it,”
Whenever you turn to the right hand
Or whenever you turn to the left.”

The office of the Prophet abounded throughout the Old Testament because prophets were God’s primary mode of communication.
Hebrews 1:1-2 NKJV
“God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;”

The two most prominent prophets of the Old Testament appeared to Christ on the Mount of Transfiguration.
Luke 9:29-31 Nkjv
“As He prayed, the appearance of His face was altered, and His robe became white and glistening. And behold, two men talked with Him, who were Moses and Elijah, who appeared in glory and spoke of His decease which He was about to accomplish at Jerusalem.”

May you receive accurate revelation out of God’s word. May you draw virtue from the Fivefold, in Jesus name.

Fivefold Office: 2
Rev. Robert Ampiah-Kwofi

These fivefold offices are unique to the New Testament church, but four of them are rooted to equivalent offices in the Old Testament.
These offices in the church are raised and sent by Almighty God, and they sometimes provoke violent hatred.
Luke 11:49 NKJV
“Therefore the wisdom of God also said, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they will kill and persecute,’”

These fivefold offices are men that Almighty God anoints and equips with special abilities to function in His church.
1 Corinthians 12:28 NKJV
“And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues.”

Christ initiated one of the Fivefold Offices during His earthly ministry and He named them Apostles.
Luke 6:12-13 NKJV
“Now it came to pass in those days that He went out to the mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. And when it was day, He called His disciples to Himself; and from them He chose twelve whom He also named apostles:”

Four of these fivefold offices were rooted in their Old Testament equivalents but the Apostles were peculiar in that no one was so designated under the Old Covenant.
2 Peter 3:1-2 NKJV
“Beloved, I now write to you this second epistle (in both of which I stir up your pure minds by way of reminder), that you may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us, the apostles of the Lord and Savior,”

These fivefold offices carried peculiar power and authority to carry out their mission.
Matthew 10:1 NKJV
“And when He had called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease.”

This power brought glory to Almighty God.
Acts 4:21-22 NKJV
“So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding no way of punishing them, because of the people, since they all glorified God for what had been done. For the man was over forty years old on whom this miracle of healing had been performed.”

May God continue to choose and equip men to work mighty works. May our God work mighty miracles for you, in Jesus name.

Fivefold Office: 1
Rev. Robert Ampiah-Kwofi

Our Lord Jesus named five gifts that He was giving to men after He rose from the dead and He led captivity into liberty.
Christ destroyed Satan and took charge and control over Satan’s erstwhile captives.
Psalm 68:17-18 NKJV
“The chariots of God are twenty thousand,
Even thousands of thousands;
The Lord is among them as in Sinai, in the Holy Place.
You have ascended on high,
You have led captivity captive;
You have received gifts among men,
Even from the rebellious,”

Our God daily and continually loads us with His benefits.
Psalm 68:19 nkjv
“Blessed be the Lord,
who daily loadeth us with benefits,
even the God of our salvation. Selah.

Apostle Paul quoted this passage from the Psalms when he spoke about events that took place after Christ’s resurrection.
Ephesians 4:7-9 NKJV
“But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?”

Christ gave gifts to men so that these men may play certain roles in His Body on the Earth.
Ephesians 4:11-12 Nkjv
“And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ,”

The work of these Fivefold Offices is a continuing work until perfection is attained, therefore the work of these offices never ends because men don’t attain perfection in this life.
Ephesians 4:13-15 Nkjv
“till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ—“

May we continually receive ministry from Christ ordained men and grow. May our discernment be sharpened so we make right judgements, in Jesus’s name.

Sunday Pulpit Series

Significant New Testament Visions:1
Rev. Robert Ampiah-Kwofi

The key visions in the New Testament began with the appearance of angel Gabriel to Zechariah in the temple.
The Scriptures emphasised the holiness of the couple who received the vision.
Luke 1:5-6 NKJV
“There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the division of Abijah. His wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth. And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.”

The angel appeared to Zechariah while he was performing his priestly duties and while a multitude were in intense prayer outside.
Luke 1:8-10 NKJV
“So it was, that while he was serving as priest before God in the order of his division, according to the custom of the priesthood, his lot fell to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord. And the whole multitude of the people was praying outside at the hour of incense.”

With the right atmosphere and preparation, God’s angel revealed himself and brought God’s message.
Luke 1:11-12 NKJV
“Then an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing on the right side of the altar of incense. And when Zacharias
saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him.”

The first part of the vision was for Zechariah’s personal victory in his prayerful search for a child.
Luke 1:14 NKJV
“But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth.”

But the vision was for infinitely more than Zechariah’s breakthrough, for Zechariah’s son would be a forerunner for the Messiah
Luke 1;15-17 NKJV
“For he will be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink. He will also be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb. And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God. He will also go before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, ‘to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children,’ and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”

May God bless His church with great visions, as we go to church.

Lessons in Faith: 30
Rev. Robert Ampiah-Kwofi

Faith unlocks the door to great exploits and extraordinary achievements.
Ordinary men and women bypassed all human limitations by faith to fulfill their goals and bless humanity.
Hebrews 11:32-34a NKJV
“And what more shall I say? For the time would fail me to tell of Gideon and Barak and Samson and Jephthah, also of David and Samuel and the prophets: who through faith subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong….”

Gideon totally destroyed the Midianites by faith yet in the record of his exploits in Judges 6,7, and 8, the word “faith” is not even once mentioned.
Judges 8:28 NKJV
“Thus Midian was subdued before the children of Israel, so that they lifted their heads no more. And the country was quiet for forty years in the days of Gideon.”

The faith of men like Gideon was found in their obedience to God’s instructions, like to dismiss 70% of his army by asking the fearful to go home.
Judges 7:2-3 NKJV
“And the LORD said to Gideon, “The people who are with you are too many for Me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel claim glory for itself against Me, saying, ‘My own hand has saved me.’ Now therefore, proclaim in the hearing of the people, saying, Whoever is fearful and afraid, let him turn and depart at once from Mount Gilead.’ ” And twenty-two thousand of the people returned, and ten thousand remained.”

Gideon’s faith came into play again when God told him to send away 9,700 of his 10,000 remaining men.
Judges 7:4 NKJV
“But the LORD said to Gideon, “The people are still too many; bring them down to the water, and I will test them for you there. Then it will be, that of whom I say to you, ‘This one shall go with you,’ the same shall go with you; and of whomever I say to you, ‘This one shall not go with you,’ the same shall not go.”

Only 300 passed the second test.
Judges 7:6-7 NKJV
“And the number of those who lapped, putting their hand to their mouth, was three hundred men; but all the rest of the people got down on their knees to drink water. Then the LORD said to Gideon, “By the three hundred men who lapped I will save you, and deliver the Midianites into your hand. Let all the other people go, every man to his place.”

May you plainly hear God’s instructions. May you have faith to obey God’s word no matter how strange it may seem, in Jesus name.

Lessons in Faith: 29
Rev. Robert Ampiah-Kwofi

One essential arena for faith is in the area of exercising biblical authority which is the right to give orders and take decisions backed by superior power.
Our Lord Jesus gave authority to His church to use to subdue all opposition and to fulfill His commission.
Luke 10:19 NKJV
“Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

Christ gave His 12 Apostles specific power against evil spirits.
Matthew 10:1 NKJV
“And when He had called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease.”

Evidently the disciples had success in using their authority because a man brought his oppressed son to them thinking they could deliver him.
Matthew 17:14-16 NKJV
“And when they had come to the multitude, a man came to Him, kneeling down to Him and saying, “Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic and suffers severely; for he often falls into the fire and often into the water. So I brought him to Your disciples, but they could not cure him.”

Jesus immediately criticised the unbelief of the people as well as His disciples.
Matthew 17:17 NKJV
“Then Jesus answered and said, “O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him here to Me.”

Christ cast the spirit out and so the disciples wondered why they had failed.
Matthew 17:18-19 NKJV
“And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him; and the child was cured from that very hour.
Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?”

Authority is utilised by faith and confidence.
Matthew 17:20 NKJV
“So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.”

May you have faith to use your divinely given authority to the maximum. May all devils be under your feet, in Jesus name.

Lessons in Faith: 26
Rev. Robert Ampiah-Kwofi

Of all the Christian virtues and graces the one that is very often portrayed in warfare and militaristic terms is faith.
We are encouraged to fight the good fight of faith.
1 Timothy 6:12 NKJV
“Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.”

We are encouraged to contend, and fight for the faith.
Jude 1:3 NKJV
“Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.”

There is a fierce fight over our faith, because men worship and obey whoever they believe so Eve obeyed Satan because she believed Satan’s lie that the Forbidden Fruit would make her wise.
Genesis 3:3-4 NKJV
“but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’ ”
Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die.”

Satan then told her that she would not die but rather become wise, and she believed the snake.
Genesis 3:6 NKJV
“So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.”

Wrong information leads to wrong thinking which leads to wrong believing which leads to wrong actions.
2 Thessalonians 2:9-10 NKJV
“The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.”

Satan fights against the truth by his lies.
John 8:44 NKJV
“You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.”

May you fiercely do battle with the truth against the lies of the enemy. May you win the fight of faith and gain good, in Jesus name.
