Topic: Your Adversary Shall Serve You
Text: 2 Samuel 9:9-11 (NKJV)
9 And the king called to Ziba, Saul’s servant, and said to him, “I have given to your master’s son all that belonged to Saul and to all his house. 10 You therefore, and your sons and your servants, shall work the land for him, and you shall bring in the harvest, that your master’s son may have food to eat. But Mephibosheth your master’s son shall eat bread at my table always.” Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.
11 Then Ziba said to the king, “According to all that my lord the king has commanded his servant, so will your servant do.”
“As for Mephibosheth,” said the king, “he shall eat at my table like one of the king’s sons.”
We had learnt earlier how Ziba tried to undermine Mephibosheth before King David. He highlighted Mephibosheth’s disability and poor state, to influence the King to rescind his decision.
But we see King David still favoring him and restoring him to eat at his table in the palace.
David now goes further to restore all of Saul’s assets to Mephibosheth. He then commands Ziba and his entire household to serve and work for Mephibosheth on the same restored lands.
In a single move of favor, Mephibosheth was presiding over 36 staff: Ziba himself, his 15 sons, and his 20 servants! Ziba his enemy, who sought to discredit him, was now working for him.
Expect God to work such an incredible restoration for you in Jesus name! Your detractors and backstabbers SHALL BOW BEFORE YOU AND SERVE YOU! That shall be your story!
