Maulana Shehu Ibrahim Niasse al-Kaolakhi visited Northern Region in 1952. He landed at the old Tamale airport and the crowd was very thick to welcome him. The program was that he was to spend the night at the late Chief Driver of Tamale near Kaladan stadium. A special iron bed was bought for Maulana Shehu Ibrahim. But Awliyallah get thier directives from Allah. According to Maulana Shehu Ibrahim Niasse he converted different ethnic groups in Islam and Tariqatu Tijaniya before he proceeds to Yendi.
He was hosted by Shehu Baba Gomda (rta). It was in Yendi maulana Shehu Ibrahim Niasse ever dreamt and saw his father Alhaji Abdullah (rta)
Shehu Gomda was recognised by Sidi Ahmad Tijani, alaihi salam. The message from Sidi Ahmad Tijani to Shehu Gomda was in the custody of Imam Abdul Rahman, the author of "Akhdari". Unfortunately he fell sick at Mali and doubted his survival to get to Yendi. He entrusted the message to the family of Sidi Muhammad. The message finally got to shehu Abdulai Gomda in Yendi. I am told that when Maulana Shehu Ibrahim Niasse al-Kaolakhi asked Shehu Gomda as when he was initiated into Tariqatu Tijaniya Sufi Order. He told Maulana Gausu that it was in 1900, the year Maulana Shehu Ibrahim was born.
The then King of Dagbon (Ya Na) at that time was Na Mahamadu Bila. The King solicited prayers from Maulana Shehu Ibrahim Niasse because there was the move or plans to remove him from the throne or skin. Generally Dogomba Kings and Chiefs have some special respect for Muslim leaders apart from the respect they offer to any special visitors in thier territories. It also implies to all descendants of Na Gbewa family. Shehu Ibrahim Niasse returned to Tamale to meet the teeming crowd came to welcome at the airport. Shehu Ibrahim Niasse wrote on this issue.
