Generosity is an act of the will. If you are passionate about God, you will give generously in order to see his name honoured. The people of God were able to raise the money they needed for the work of God from all ‘whose hearts [prompted] them to give’ (Exodus 25:2b). They gave ‘willingly and ungrudgingly’ (v.2b, AMP). God’s love never forces you. He wants you to respond freely from your heart.

A crisis tests your faith. Jesus wants you to learn to conquer your fears and trust him even in the middle of the storms of life. Choose faith over fear.
Sometimes God calms the storm. Sometimes he lets the storm rage and he calms you.

*HOW TO HAVE PEACE (1)*

*Saturday, 8th June 2024*
*‘Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,’ Romans 5:1 NIV*

God will give you three kinds of peace.

*1) Spiritual peace.* ‘Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,’ (Romans 5:1 NIV) That’s the foundation, the bottom line. You must have peace with God before you can have any other kind of peace. Jesus said, ‘”Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Don't let your heart be troubled or fearful.”’ (John 14:27 CSB). Why? Because His peace has the hallmark of heaven on it.

*2) Relational peace.* Paul writes, ‘If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone’ (Romans 12:18 NIV). Relational peace decreases conflict. You know from experience that relationships can be an origin of tension. For the majority of us, our greatest problems are people problems: interacting well with our boss, family, or relatives. We consistently have to deal with competition, conflict, and criticism. And these things can steal our peace.

*3) Emotional peace.* ‘Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful’ (Colossians 3:15 NIV). The Greek word for ‘rule’ means ‘to umpire’. What is an umpire’s role? He maintains peace. He ensures the game is played in a smooth and disciplined way. And God will provide you with an internal umpire who will keep you at peace when everything around you appears chaotic. Here is a great Bible promise: ‘You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!’ (Isaiah 26:3 NLT). Do you need peace today? Turn to God; you won’t be disappointed.

The moment you put your faith in Jesus, God anoints you with the Holy Spirit. However weak and inadequate you may feel, God can use you, in extraordinary ways. Even your weakness is anointed.

*ARE YOU A TRUE FRIEND?*

*Monday, 27th May 2024*
*‘A friend loves at all times, …’ Proverbs 17:17 NKJV*

Two men were travelling down the road together when a bear appeared out of nowhere. Before the bear could spot them, one guy ran for a tree at the side of the road, climbed into its branches, and hid. The other man, who wasn’t as nimble as his tree-climbing companion, threw himself on the ground and pretended to be dead. The bear came up, sniffed all around him, and appeared to whisper something in his ear. The man had always heard that bears won’t touch a dead body, so he lay perfectly still and held his breath. Sure enough, the bear took him for a co**se and left. When the coast was clear, the man in the tree came down. Curious, he asked his companion what the bear had whispered when it put its mouth directly to his ear. His friend replied, ‘He told me never to travel with a friend who deserts you at the first sign of danger!’

It’s easy to be friends with someone who is successful, has it all together, and is riding the crest of the wave. But what about when that person falls, or fails, or loses their connection to Christ, or deliberately disconnects and causes all kinds of ugly consequences? The Bible says, ‘A friend loves at all times.’ (Proverbs 17:17 NKJV) When you’re ‘up’, they’re not envious, and when you’re ‘down’, they’re not condescending. They’re compassionate and considerate whether or not you are. American writer Elbert Hubbard said, ‘Your friend is the man [or woman] who knows all about you and still loves you.’ If you have a friend like that, treasure them and tell them often how much you appreciate them.

Love is the most effective form of evangelism. When people see real love they see God. The best way to start to tell people about Jesus is to love them and to love other followers of Jesus.

‭1 Timothy 6:6-14 NIV‬
[6] But godliness with contentment is great gain. [7] For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. [8] But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. [9] Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. [10] For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. [11] But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. [12] Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses. [13] In the sight of God, who gives life to everything, and of Christ Jesus, who while testifying before Pontius Pilate made the good confession, I charge you [14] to keep this command without spot or blame until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,

*The quest for wealth can kill contentment and turn people’s hearts away from the Lord. True wealth is found in righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness.

*If God has given us much, we must be generous and willing to share with those in need.

*THE RIGHT ATTITUDE (1)*

*Wednesday, 8th May2024*
*‘Let each esteem others better than himself.’ Philippians 2:3 NKJV*

Observe:

*1) The right attitude makes a difference in your relationships.* Former US President Theodore Roosevelt said, ‘The most important single ingredient in the formula for success is knowing how to get along with people.’ And Paul writes: ‘Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others’ (Philippians 2:3-4 NKJV). If your track record with people isn’t too good, maybe you need to look at your attitude. While it’s true that some people just seem to have a winning way with others, someone with limited people skills can learn to win with others if he or she decides to change their attitude and approach.

*2) Your attitude makes a difference in how you face life’s challenges.* During the Korean War when US Marine Chesty Puller found himself surrounded by eight enemy divisions, his response was, ‘All right, they are on our left. They are on our right. They’re in front of us. They’re behind us – they can’t get away from us this time!’

In life, problems, challenges, obstacles, and failures are unavoidable. So, how are you going to deal with them? Will you give up? Will you let conditions make you miserable? Or are you going to attempt to make the best of things? Which path you select depends on your attitude. The old saying is true: what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. Remember the times in your life when you have grown the most. Weren’t they times when you had to overcome obstacles and problems?
