LISTEN
Verse
“He inquired of the LORD, saying, “Shall I go and attack these Philistines?” The LORD answered him.” I Samuel 23:2 (NIV)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
It is easy to read this passage and not get the significance of the spiritual moment. You see the truth is we worship the true and living God who wants to interact with us. Christianity is more than a religion it is also mystical relationship with God. The Philistines were threatening the town that David was in and his men wondered if they should fight. David knew the odds were not in their favor but wanted to know what God thought about it. So what did he do? He asked God. And God answered him. We talk about prayer and so we talk to God, but we don’t spend much time listening. God speaks through His word. God speaks through our conscience. God speaks through Godly friends and leaders and God speaks through His Holy Spirit. God speaks but are we in the habit of listening?

LET'S PRAY
Father, I need to hear Your voice. There is so much I need to know from You. Please help me listen. Help me hear what you desire to say to me so I will follow Your will for my life. Today I come and pray with Samuel of old, “Speak Lord for Your servant hears you.”

HELP ME REJOICE
Verse
“Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Savior.” Habakkuk 3:17-18 (NIV)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
What qualifications do you put on happiness? So many times it seems as if we put conditions on whether or not we are going to rejoice. We must be liked. We must be successful. We have to have the right kind of car, house, clothes or social status before we can really find happiness. But what happens if those things that we feel are so important to “who we are” are taken away from us? What if we lose our job or a friendship or we face bankruptcy? What if we are falsely accused of something or our friends turn on us? Then what happens to our peace, joy or happiness? Somehow Habakkuk found the secret. It was in his relationship with God. He was able to rejoice in Him no matter what. He had committed himself to God and when troubles began to brew, he was able to trade his commitment in for trust. Finally, when times were at its worst, his trust allowed him to return to joy from painful situations. This joy came from a deep trusting relationship with God. Listen to what he said, “Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Savior.” This didn’t happen by accident. Habakkuk had a relationship with God that he could return to over and over again. Today begin with trust. Trust Him with everything you have and everything you need. Trust Him with today, tomorrow and the future. Then, when you need it, just like Habakkuk, your trust will help you return to joy.

LET'S PRAY
Father, help me to trust You in all things. Help me to put my hope in You. Help me to rejoice in You no matter what happens. I pray this in Jesus name.

ALL I NEED TO DO HIS WILL
Verse
“Now may the God of peace—may he equip you with all you need for doing his will. May He produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that is pleasing to him. All glory to him forever and ever! Amen.” Hebrews 13:20-21 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
Isn’t it exciting to know that God is more interested in you doing good than you are? In fact, He is so invested in your success that He has equipped you with everything you need to do what He wants you to do. In fact, the author of Hebrews says that God is going to produce in you, every good thing that is pleasing to Him, through the power of Jesus Christ! No wonder Hebrews could finish this passage by saying, “All glory to Him forever and ever! Amen.” Today you can bring glory to God by living the way He has called you to. Ask Him to help you do His will. Ask Him to provide all the power you will need to do every good thing that pleases Him today.

LET'S PRAY
Father, thank You for equipping me with everything I need to do Your will. Thank You for Your power that You make available to me so I can do every good thing that is pleasing to You. Give me the strength to live for You this day. Give me the wisdom to know what to do, the courage to follow through and the faith to trust You with the outcome.

WAITING ON GOD
Verse
“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31 (KJV)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
Today’s passage is one of the secrets to living a joyful life. Other translations use the word “hope” or “trust” instead of wait. But with the word “wait” you have hope and trust in action. Waiting is a verb. So often WE want to do something and don’t wait to let God do His will. We want to “fix” things when God wants to bring change. Waiting is often the hardest work we can do. And the most profitable. So when you are worried sick – wait on the Lord. When you first get up in the morning– wait on the Lord. When your child is late getting home – wait on the Lord. When your money is running out – wait on the Lord.
When you get discouraging news – wait on the Lord. Today, wait on the Lord and He will renew your strength. He will help you soar like an eagle. He will help prevent you from getting weary or fainting.

LET'S PRAY
Father, help me to learn to wait on You. Help me trust You and put all my hope in You. Thank You that You have promised that I will not grow weary or faint.

FEAR NO MORE
Verse
“I sought the LORD, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.” Psalm 34:4 (NIV)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
Fear comes in different ways. To be sure, there are full-blown phobias and crippling fears that can interrupt our life; but for most of us, fear is more insidious. Fears of rejection, insignificance, and abandonment may not interrupt our life but they can sure influence the way we think and act. Our thoughts, motives and behaviors are constantly shaped by either faith or fear. The Psalmist found the secret. He said that if we seek the Lord, He will deliver us from all our fears. Turn on the light of faith and the darkness of fear will dissipate. Decide to seek God today. Move away from fear and move your thinking toward faith.

LET'S PRAYER
Lord, I want to trade my fears for faith. Today, when fear comes to my attention, I will seek You. I will seek You with all of my heart. Thank You that You promise to deliver me.
AMEN

EXPERIENCING HIS PRESENCE
Verse
“I will bless the LORD who guides me; even at night my heart instructs me. I know the LORD is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.” Psalms 16:7, 8 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
There is one prayer that has made all the difference in my life. It is one I have to pray over and over again. It is a form of discipline, for if I don’t pray this prayer I will not keep my Spiritual vitality. The prayer is simple and yet powerful. It is, “Lord make me conscious of Your presence.” Being conscious of God’s presence makes all the difference in the world. Because David was conscious of the fact that God was always with him, right beside him, he was not shaken during life’s struggles. Instead God guided him and instructed his heart at night. How about you and I? What if today we were conscious of God right next to us? What if we knew that He was in the same room we were? What if we sensed that He heard our thoughts and prayers and would to answer the questions we have? What if we experienced His comforting presence when we are under pressure? What if we knew He was present to hold our hand when we had that extremely difficult task to do? God is. God is always with us. Let us be conscious of His presence in all that we do today.

LET'S PRAY
Dear God, thank you for being with me constantly. Please make me aware of your presence today. Help me to see how relevant you are to my life. Help me experience your presence, to really know that you are always with me, in fact right beside me. Father, open my eyes to see you, my ears to hear you and my heart to sense your very presence. In Jesus name.

EVERYTHING WE NEED FOR LIFE AND GODLINESS
Verse
“His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him.” II Peter 1:3 (NIV)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
How many times have we felt inadequate in a situation? If only there was something that could help us? It is easy to feel this way about our spiritual life. How can we live for God? How can we live this Christian life the way He wants us to? By ourselves we can’t. But the good news is, “He has given us everything we need for life and godliness.” How? Through knowing Him and His promises. Today, spend time and get to know God. Talk to Him. Ask Him to reveal Himself to you. If you will spend time getting to know God, you will find that He does indeed have everything you need for life and godliness.

LET'S PRAY
Dear God, I want to live the life You want me to, but I can’t do it by myself. I need You. I need Your promises. Reveal Yourself to me today and in the days to come, so I can get to know You more and more and live the life You desire for me.

HOPE AND CHEER
Verse
“When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer.” Psalms 94:19 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
God created us for peace and joy. But doubt is a reality we all face. Uncertainly, apprehension, distrust and confusion are part of our everyday life. None of us are unscathed. Life is full of ambiguity, but God has made us resilient. His presence and power gives us the comfort and strength we need to bounce back from doubt and painful emotions. The Psalmist says it plainly. When doubt fills our mind, God’s comfort gives us renewed hope and cheer. Today, come to God. Lean on Him. Tell Him your concerns, worries, fears and nagging doubts. Pour your heart out to Him. He cares and He will comfort you. He will bring you back to hope and joy.

LET'S PRAY
Father, you know how many doubts, fears, apprehensions cross my mind. I need you. I need your comfort. Come Lord Jesus, fill my heart with hope and cheer!

THE HOLY SPIRIT WITHIN US
Verse
“We prove ourselves by our purity, our understanding, our patience, our kindness, by the Holy Spirit within us, and by our sincere love.” II Corinthians 6:6 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
Paul was sharing about all the hardship and suffering that he and the church was experiencing. Even though the times were rough, he writes that it was the Holy Spirit that still produced the attributes that God desired in their life. Attributes like purity, understanding, patience, kindness and love were able to get them through the hardest times. In another passage Paul writes, “The Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” How is it that the Holy Spirit can produce this effect in our life? Paul answers by writing, “Let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.” Today seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Commit your way to Him. Ask for His leading, direction and influence in all that you do. When you do, He will produce the desired effects in your life.

LET'S PRAYER
Father, thank You for the Holy Spirit in my life. Holy Spirit, lead me today. I desire Your fruit to be evident in my life. Guide me, direct me, influence everything I do.

WHAT INFLUENCE ARE YOU UNDER?

Verse
Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit, Ephesians 5:18 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
Be filled with the Spirit. It is a hard concept to grasp. It helps to see it in the context Paul was using. The key is in the reference to being drunk on wine. There is only one way to get drunk. You get drunk by being “filled” with alcohol until the amount that you consume has you under its influence. This is not a casual drink that is in moderation. This is in excess to where you become drunk. So what is he saying about our life in the Spirit? Paul says that instead of getting drunk with wine, let us have the same insatiable appetite for the guidance and fellowship of the Holy Spirit. When we meditate, read, pray and commune with the Holy Spirit enough, which is more than a casual occurrence of reading a few verses of scriptures, we will begin to be “filled” or under the influence of the Holy Spirit’s leading in our daily living. It is interesting, the tense is not a “one time” filling, but actually means “be filled and keep on being filled.” You do not get drunk on wine once for the rest of your life. The effect of the wine soon dissipates. To continually be drunk you have to continually drink the wine. Although the Holy Spirit does not leave us, in order to stay “filled” or influenced by the Holy Spirit, we need to continually stay in communication and fellowship with the Holy Spirit. Today, commit yourself to being under the influence of God through His Holy Spirit.

EMOTIONAL PAIN
Verse
“Save me, O God, for the floodwaters are up to my neck. Deeper and deeper I sink into the mire; I can’t find a foothold. I am in deep water, and the floods overwhelm me. I am exhausted from crying for help; my throat is parched. My eyes are swollen with weeping, waiting for my God to help me.” – “Let all who seek God’s help be encouraged. For the LORD hears the cries of the needy.” Psalms 69: 1-3, 32-33 (NLT)

TODAY’S MESSAGE
We all go through struggles and hard times. Life is not fair. There are times of sadness, despair and regret. The Psalmist paints a picture of someone trapped in an emotional downward spiral. Everything seems overwhelming and yet in the end they were able to say that there is encouragement in seeking God’s help. Why? Because God hears us. In the book, “Living From The Heart Jesus Gave You” the authors talk of two types of trauma that brings the kind of despair that we read in today’s message. There is the trauma of “not getting what we need” and then there is the trauma of “getting something that we should have never received.” The first is the result of neglect and abandonment, the second from abuse. But the good news is that God hears us in our despair and He can help us. It is said, “Life brings each of us inescapable traumas that block maturity. God’s redemptive activity comes to us in two ways: He brings healing to our traumas, and adopts us into His family. Both ways boost us through our blocks to maturity, along the way to wholeness. With these boosts, we will be able to live from the hearts He gave us, our true identities will emerge, and our relationships with family and community will be characterized by joy.” Today, praise God for His grace and power in His healing of your emotions. It is there for you as you bring your pain to Him. Also, as you participate and fellowship with others, sharing unconditional love for each other, you will become more mature and experience the joy God intended for you to have
