ENEMY DETECTION

READ: John 8:42-59

Detecting the presence and activities of evil spirits is key to being a successful Christian. A minister of the gospel must be even more capable of detecting the presence and activities of evil spirits. If you are able to detect, isolate and destroy your enemy, you will overcome him.

Fighting the devil is to fight an invisible enemy. Fighting an invisible enemy is not as impossible as it sounds. Doctors have been doing that for years! Fighting devils is similar to the work of a doctor because doctors fight invisible bacteria, parasites and viruses all the time.

Doctors have been forced to fight invisible enemies for years. After years of experience, medical doctors are able to detect, isolate and deal with their invisible enemies.

A minister of the gospel must be like a good doctor. You must grow in your spiritual walk until you are quickly able to detect the presence of evil spirits. Very few people have visions and revelations in which they see devils and demons at work. Many doctors have also never seen certain viruses or bacteria but they are able to fight them effectively.

You do not have to see your enemy in order to defeat him! But you do have to know when your enemy is present! You do have to know what exactly he is doing! You do have to know how your enemy operates! It is possible to detect the presence of an invisible enemy through symptoms and signs. There are several symptoms of demonic activity. Every minister of the gospel must know them because it is the only way to detect demon activity. Just as doctors know patterns of symptoms, Christians must know symptoms and patterns of demonic activity.

DECEIT

READ: Zechariah 5:1-4

Then said he unto me, THIS IS THE CURSE ... it shall enter into the house of the thief, and into the house OF HIM THAT SWEARETH FALSELY by my name: and it shall remain in the midst of his house, and shall consume it with the timber thereof and the stones thereof.

Zechariah 5:3-4

There is a curse for those who deceive. Don’t join them. If you passed your exams by cheating, you have provoked a curse. You may have had eight “A”s but it is a cursed set of “A”s. Your future is cursed because you obtained those “A”s through deception.

Do not cheat during elections. There is a curse for those who cheat to gain power. You may be in power but you will be cursed because you cheated to win the elections. You must fear God’s word. You must fear stealing, you must fear cheating. You must fear the coming of the curse.

You must have a proper fear of telling lies. There is a curse on all liars. You must avoid telling lies if you want to avoid curses. Many democratic politicians tell lies to the people. They go on television defending things they do not even believe themselves. They know that what they are saying is untrue but they persist in it in order to be politically correct. Lying politicians must keep looking out of the window to see if the curse is arriving at their gates. The curse will surely come to those who live their lives by peddling deception.

It is not easy to pray your way out of an accursed situation. It is not easy to deliver people who have cursed themselves by cheating and stealing. Pastors often waste their time praying for accursed people. There are often no results for such prayers. When men of God pray for accursed people, it looks as though the pastor is powerless to deliver the people. It is not easy for anyone to dislodge a legitimate and well-deserved curse.

As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, SO THE CURSE CAUSELESS SHALL NOT COME.

We had an incredible time at our John 3:16 swollen Sunday service. Our hearts are full of gratitude for everyone who came out and shared in the joy of this special day. Can’t wait for our next outreach!

OBSCURITY

READ: Esther 1:10-12; 15-20

Whoso curseth his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in obscure darkness.

Proverbs 20:20

When you curse your father, you go into darkness. When you dishonour your father, you move into obscurity. You will be enveloped in darkness and obscurity when you dishonour those who raised you. Dishonour results in you entering obscure darkness.

This is why pastors who break away from their spiritual homes rarely flourish. Scripture says they will be in obscurity (Proverbs 20:20). To be in obscurity means you will be unimportant and insignificant. Many pastors who fight their fathers are no longer important in ministry. Their churches are insignificant and their voices are no longer heard.

You are cursed with obscurity, insignificance and unimportance when you dishonour your father: Your lamp will not go out in normal darkness but in obscure darkness. Darkness is a symbol of difficulty. You will be forced to live in difficulty because you dishonour those who brought you up.

Your lamp will go out! This curse is reserved for dishonourable sons and daughters. This means you will be extinguished, you will disappear and you will be found no more.

Dishonour results in you being replaced. Vashti did not give honour to her husband. She lost her position (Esther 1:19). She was replaced by a more humble person. The reward for dishonour is to lose your place.

You lose respect and honour when you dishonour those you must honour. You will no longer be celebrated. Vashti was no longer celebrated. Vashti was no longer invited! Vashti was no longer wanted! Vashti was no longer honoured! This is what happens to those who fail to honour what God says they should honour. Vashti failed to honour her husband and she lost the honour of being the wife of the King.
