EMPTY PURSUITS
“And do not turn aside; for then you would go after empty things which cannot profit or deliver, for they are nothing.” (1 Samuel 12:21)

Have you ever asked yourself about some of the most popular things people seem to endlessly pursue? What is it that lures people into addictions to alcohol, drugs, gambling and sexual perversion?

Prophet Samuel cautioned Israel not to turn aside from following God. He warned them that the attractions they normally tend to pursue are empty and meaningless.

Determine to set your priorities right this year. Matthew 6:33 says, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” The priority is to seek first the kingdom and its righteousness.

Key Thought. The moment you turn aside from following after God, you open up to the influence of empty and meaningless attractions.

Stay blessed!!!

_Topic_: Imitating Christ.

*Imitating His Power.*

_Text_: Matt 28:18
*And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth (KJV)*.

Jesus had and still has power over everybody and everything — nature, diseases, death and the rest. Come to think of nature, He had so much power to bring it under control. He could command the boisterous sea and suddenly, it became calm. "And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm" (Mark 4:39). His power over sicknesses was unimaginable. He healed the cripple, the dumb, the deaf etc. As for death, He has been given the key of death. He came back to life three days after His death and did same for Lazarus. "And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go" (John 11:43-44).

Christians are not supposed to be powerless. We carry power. We are the carriers of the power of God in the world today. The Spirit of God which was in Jesus that made Him raise the dead, heal the sick, walk on the sea, calm the storm, etc now lives in us. We have what it takes to triumph over every situation in our lives. Jesus promised us that we would do greater works if we believed in Him. I want to encourage all and sundry to believe in who we are and what we have. Do you find yourself in the middle of the sea? Speak to it and it will be calm. Are you battling any sickness? You have the power to bring it under control.

*_Prayer_:*
Dear Lord Jesus, I am thankful to You for giving me such a great power of Yours. I activate it now to affect every situation in my life. In the Mighty Name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

Be a blessing to others by sharing it with them
